Edited and Fresh!

And so, it begins!

I believe we have enough folks interested to make something of this! So let me explain how this (is supposed) to work!

The 0-12 Program is an operation created to foster goodwill between rival factions, as well as lend much needed support across the Human Sphere. It is a chance for units of different factions to integrate with others to learn and grow, as well as teach.

For us, it's a chance to share our fluff, our paint schemes, and general goodwill with each other. Tis the season after all!

Here's how it works...

I will keep a running list of the folks that are participating in the program, along with links to their P&M Blogs (if they have them). If someone's on there you would like to swap with, send them a PM to talk it out. Most of us are pretty cool folks, so I don't imagine this being very hard.

Once you've reached an agreement over what to swap, get painting! We will have an 0-12 Painting and Modeling Blog set up for everyone to post in, so feel free to take pictures of your WIP's, and the finished model. Also don't be afraid to post pictures of the final product you get from whoever you're swapping with.

As for the details of the model...

CDK has given us a big ole' logo for 0-12. It's optional, but I thought it would be cool to try and incorporate the 0-12 logo somewhere in the model to represent what we're doing. Either in the purple/blue/yellow of the traditional 0-12, or stylized to match your already awesome paint schemes.

Also! Keeping the base simple, or unpainted seems to be preferred among the ranks. That way when the trade arrives people can base it to fit in with some of their existing forces.

I shall start the list below!

((Original Post))

So I was sitting there thinking, like I do so often... about ways to interact and share with the rest of you Infinity guys of the Dakka Community. And my thoughts went to the Great Marine Swap that Whalemusic has been doing for a while. Its a cool idea, but I feel it only really works because so many of us have bajillions of Marine bitz easily at hand. You don't get that with Infinity, Bitz are not a common thing.

But I still like the idea. And with Paradisio out and everyone working on new and exciting projects, I figured I would see if there is any interest in such an endeavor.

Would you paint up a model to exchange with someone else? I would certainly imagine one of my Hassassins showing up to meddle in the affairs of others. Is this a crazy plan?

Maybe we could paint them in the schemes we're known for, but add somewhere a little O-12 icon... showing that they are part of the fight to save humanity.

Sorry CA players. Though they could still participate for sure! No exclusions!

So lemme hear what you think. Other than, "Quit wasting our time and get back to painting!"

Sounds pretty darn cool! I do enjoy swapping models and especially ones that are painted differently from my normal color scheme. The 0-12 logo somewhere on the model sounds pretty slick to me. It'll be a reminder that you're part of a small group of people who love the hobby enough to put themselves out there.

I'd be happy to participate. Even though i'm a little new to the infinity part of the forums, I am certainly not new to painting miniatures

I'd be into trying this. I'm new to Infinity but old to miniatures. I certainly enjoy swapping models and bits with others to expand my hobby experience.

Sound's like a great idea. I'm planning to jump on board with the GMS swap anyway so i'm definitely up for this.

Where would it be hosted? Here, P&M Blogs, a sticky here?

You know, I'm still working on that!

I figure we'd host it here or in the PM Blogs. I mainly wanted to see if people liked the plan or thought I was crazy.

On that note, anyone have a good reference icon for the 0-12 symbol?

Dare i say ask the Dragon King? He's already gone out of his way to help me locate some stuff so i'm hesitant about sending more trouble his way.

He is very helpful though so it might be worth asking him nicely. Or see if his decal sheets have something that would suit you?

P.S. My vote would be to host here. I don't want to cut us off from the rest of Dakka but i think we'll get more involvement if it's posted here.

Certainly. And I'll bug CDK when I think about it later. I'm sure this is right up his alley anyway.

Gathering the Informations.

Page 10 of the 2nd edition main rulebook shows the O-12 logo.

It's rather simplistic. It's a purple circle with a yellow border, broken in 3 points with small yellow circles(if you connect them, they form a scalene triangle with the base on top going left to right), and a "12" in the center in yellow.

I am so not confident enough in my painting skills to attempt to paint a O-12 symbol on something that small though.

We'll get transfers made or something, don't worry. We don't even need to do that part, it could be an option for the person receiving the models maybe?

I think the best thing would not be to have the icon, but rather a neutral color scheme of some kind.

Isn't the point that we all showcase our own colour schemes though? Otherwise it's just a never ending painting competition without a winner.

Here are the GMS rules for anyone who is interested and hasn't seen it before:

Instructions
Simply post your interest to swap, along with some recent work you have done, along with what army (armies) you are normally paint. If someone is interested, they'll contact you either on the thread or by PM. Conversely, if you see someone's work on the thread that you like, you may contact them the same way. There are no rules for what can be traded, from simple bolter tactical marine up to a Land Raider, and everything in between. It can even be something besides marines, such as our several ork participants have shown, or even objective markers! Once you find a partner (or ten) find out exactly what they are looking for. Some people make deathwatch teams, so ask that a shoulder pad be left off, while others ask that the base be blank so it can fit in with their army. When you complete a trade on both ends, shoot me a pm to let me know and I will add the name behind your own.

Who's to say that it has to be exactly the same?

If you just want to do "The Great Marine Swap" for Infinity, then call it "Infiltration!" or something of that nature.

The whole point of O-12 is that it's a supposedly "neutral" body which recruits from all the powers of the Sphere, barring the Combined Army and Tohaa.

Look at page 31 of Campaign: Paradiso. Those are some of O-12's actual troops confronting the Tohaa.

Ah, well I figured that we would want to sort of showcase our styles and represent our forces with each other. The tie in could be something small that compliments the model, rather than changing the way we would paint to follow a common design. That way it becomes more about the character of our forces and less about who can pain the UN color scheme the best.

Hence why I figured it would be fun to have an 0-12 icon represented somewhere. A helmet tag. A shoulder plate. A Kneecap.

Maybe have a 'Neutral' Toned 0-12 logo if the traditional colorscheme clashes with our own schemes.

Yeh, i don't think there's going to be much interest in that, Kan, mate.

Although if you set that up as well i'd be interested in following the progress and maybe getting involved eventually.

For now i'm really feeling Chem's idea though. I can't wait to get on board with it and i'm sure there will be many others who feel the same.

I can re-create the O-12 logo digitaly but I need to follow something. Can anyone scan the image from the book for me? I can the re-make it as a vector file. Vector files can the be re-sized to anything without loss of detail.

Also, If anyone can scan some of the new Aleph icons I'd appreciate it. I usually have to wait until they come out with a new PDF or it's out on Devil team.

BTW I got a hole of the images of the sectorals to come out in the next book! Like USAriadna! I'm going to do those as soon as I'm done with existing things.

I think we have enough people for sure, and I'm sure more will pile on slowly but surely.

I say we work on the 0-12 logo, get a good solid idea in our minds, then start swapping.

I know I have a rather attractive Hassassin Fiday with a Boarding Shotgun that needs some paint!

I also have that Double Shotgun Highlander that has been lamenting in my painting case for months. Ariadna Expedition Force away!

Yes a good strait on shot would work! Hell the Icons I got for the new sectorals are from pictures projected on a screen! As long as I have something to follow it's helps. I can not find what font is used for the O-12 at all.

Word. I'll take a snap at it when I get home this evening. I'll snap all the new Aleph icons and then photobucket them or something. Preferred file type? .png?

CDK/Chem - I can help with that too if anything goes wrong, my books and camera are at your service.

As for the logo, i'm planning to start making and printing all my own decals after Crimbo. At that time i could maybe print batches of the symbol for people involved in this and send them off.

Also, here is a quick snap of the O-12 logo if anyone wants a look:

It's a bit small for me Casey's. It's hard to trace the numbers. I've already done everything else by eyeballing it.

@Chemical: any chance you can do some of the Aleph symbols too?

This does in fact sound like a grand idea as long as some of us shakey handers get a good way to paint the icon

Sorry CDK, it was just a quick snap for the thread. I can do you a proper one if you want? How high quality do you need it?

Edit: If it's just that you need a bigger image and quality isn't a big deal i have the full size version of that image here:

I'm thinking I'll put it on and odds and ends decal sheet along with the new sectoral icons.

BTW Other than this stuff I doubt I could join. I'm having a hard enough time painting my stuff as it is. I only just sent my summer swap figure a week ago!
