Ok, so I'm having a little technical issue.

Basically, on any forum page on dakka, the page doesn't start until half way down. So the first thing I see is the corrugated iron background thing and then I have to scroll halfway down the page until I actually see any of the forum. Other than that, the forum functions perfectly fine, it's just annoying.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

What web browser and OS are you using?

Web Browser is Internet Explorer (8 I think). As for OS, I'm not sure, I'm not that computer-wise. My computer is very new though.

Can you please copy/paste the results in the middle of this page:

http://dakkadakka.com/core/test.jsp

from JS: Yes to the end - I'll be able to figure out the OS and browser version from that.

This is the same issue I was encountering and reported a few weeks back. It is IE10 playing around with the tables in the site as far as I could see. I've still not had a chance to have a proper look as IE10 is only at work

Yup, thanks for that endtransmission. Will have a play with it when I finally get my hands on a copy of IE 10.

Ok, I've had a quick look and think I can see the issue.

In the page structure you've got lots of nested tables, one of which seems to be an incorrectly nested table on line 117 (when I do a view source anyway), which has it's height set to 100%. This is just above the pagination js file is called.

IE10 is seeing that you've got two table tags next to each other and assumes the second one should be a closing tag, instead of a second table (the second table needs to be inside a td to register correctly). As it thinks it now has a complete table, it is setting the height of this to 100% and then displaying the rest of the content beneath it.

As a very quick hack, if you add an IE10 specific style that is:

body table tbody tr td table{height:0px;}

it seems to fix the layout issue... but I can't say what other effects it has on the site at this point in time as I'm just running out the door to see a client.

Much appreciated endtransmission, that is very helpful. I'll get that in the stylesheet as soon as I get a copy of IE10 to test on (which should not be too far away - I need to upgrade soon anyway). If you can have a poke around to let me know if brings out any bugs in the gallery, store finder or blog view then that should cover most of the odd bits of code.

Apologies that you had to dig into the ugly ugly code as well. Nothing especially elegant going on here as a result of it being a lazy hodge-podge combining a bunch of systems in a get-it-done frame of mind

Just bumping with a note that I've put that fix in. Are you still getting the issue? I dont intend to get a copy of win 8 for a few more months at least so cant test easily.
