I don't play dark angels, or even space marines, but I was recently reading an older dark angels codex and it said that the terminators armor granted them the deepstrike special rule. I was wondering if this meant they could be put into battle via deepstrike without the aid of a droppod.

Yes they can. Actually I don't think the DA can even take drop pods for terminators.

Edit: They also get to deepstrike half their terminators turn 1.

Out of my Mind

Terminators have the ability to Deep Strike, it's in the Codex. I think Space Wolves don't/can't.

Dark Angels DO have 'Deathwing Assault' which allows them to be played like a Drop Pod list w/o needing Drop Pods. (ie. 1/2 can come in 1st turn) They can still use Drop Pods if they want to.

Sorry to hijack a bit, but can blood angels terminators? According to the codex they have neither the deepstrike rule or the option of drop pods.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Nevermind. I've just looked at the armour section of the codex. Sorry.

It is in the Codex, under Terminator Armour in the Wargear section.

Termies that can Deep Strike:
Vanilla Marines
Chaos Marines
Blood Angels
Dark Angels
Grey Knights
Black Templars (? not certain here.)

Termites that can take Drop Pods:
Space Wolves

Or to put it another way, the only reason Space Wolves can take a pod is because they can't teleport.

The only terminators that cannot deepstrike are Space Wolves, which is why that book allows you to bring them in a drop pod.

"They like to fight with their feet firmly on the ground."
