So lately, Ive noticed that randomly on a thread, ALL the animated images, weather its avatars or Orkmoticons, just stop working. Sometimes I can refresh the page and they work, weirder still, sometimes if I scroll down the page, they will start working again. Any ideas? I cleaned out my cache and all that jazz thinking maybe it was that, but still same thing happening. And its only on DAKKA, any other forum these things work just fine

I don't get how dakkadakka would prevent your browser displaying gifs correctly.

Animated gifs have a command in them to determine how long they loop for... in the case of all the Dakka ones, this would be an infinite loop.

Some browsers, especially Chrome, have ways and means to disabling the animations either via a plugin or javascript extension. There do also seem to be a number of reports of animated gifs not working properly in chrome and recent version of Firefox... so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they are starting to introduce these things into the core system.

So is there a way to fix this? Granted, it doesnt really....take away from the DAKKA experience, but sometimes I like watching Orks laugh and cry, and some peoples Avatars are pretty funny

From a quick google it looks like there are some minor bugs in chrome that cause this and are generally related to switching tabs / loading stuff in tabs. Wait for things to get fixed I guess :S
