Not done many models in the fantasy range so picked up the Lizardmen Battalion recently

Here's a pictures of the models I've done so far

For the skin I'm

Priming White
Washing Asurmen Blue (Old GW)
Layering with Vallejo Sky Blue

I've spoke to a friend of mine that thinks they are really flat so I'm unsure how in future I can change this or if in fact I need to? I can't really highlight any lighter as I'd be tipping on white which I really don't want

Paint is a bit thick in areas though this is my first time using Vellejo colours - any advice is welcome

(I've not painted weapons / washed blow pipes or coloured accessories)

I like 'em, I'm trying to paint my own brew of lizard folky, not as easy I thought haha

Painting the frills a complimentary colour would make a really big difference, they look a little flat as so much of them is the one colour.

Any little splashes of extra shades/colours you could add would really help, even just the scales along their spines.

Honestly, I like the way the skinks in the back look. The blue is much richer and tropical.

Thanks for all the replies, in reply the comment on the skink in background that was originally my goal when it came to painting them however I decided to make them lighter with a more chilled look then having the saurus a more rich turquoise

After taking on board comments I've modified 3 of my skinks to fit around darker shades of blue with red scales, I'll highlight them a bit brighter once I decide if it works - any opinion on whether this look is better than the original?

I must say these have a lot more depth but now I'm unsure how to adjust the skin of the Saurus to fit in with the army while not being too different

Also: These blown up pictures sure shows me how bad I paint aha - only been doing this hobby since January but I'm getting there, I hope! Any input appreciated

This is the stage I'm at with my Old Blood, bronze doesn't suit the shield much so will probably change that though this is my first ever fantasy character having only painted Nids / Crons

Will probably paint the teeth a bone-ish colour and tidy up the skulls, maybe give another highlight to the skin

Aiming for table top (never played fantasy either) so would mean a lot if anyone could provide some constructive criticism / praise

Thanks
