Hey guys, I'm about to buy a chaos vindicator but I'm not sure of how to fit it on my lists. I looked at all my lists and in the ones that i think it could fit i would have to replace 2 units of 1 Nurgle Oblie for it (leaving me even with a few more points to spend around the list). Still I'm not sure if changing them for a vindi would be an upgrade to the list. Most of my lists had the oblies for the range, being usually only some havocs and a ADL on the back, so 2 oblies seemed like a nice addition to shoot some lascannons on key targets on the other side. However, a S10 AP2 large blast sounds like a good addition as well.

Here is an example of one of my lists:

This would be my list if i fielded the vindi and my old list was only leaving the LR without the havoc Launcher & Dozer Blade and replacing the vindi for 2 oblies with MoN.

The other lists that might use it would be slight variations, like having abaddon as my HQ & replacing the termies and plagues for a squad of decked chosens. Or dropping the lord, LR & termies for a jugger lord with bikes and rhinos on every CSM squad giving it more mobility

Even on the past edition I thought they were awesome without the T5, that pretty much is the reason i let the vindi pass for all these past years. However with the increase of threat generated by sv2+ units and the buff to full str blasts may be a great replacement for the oblies

Considering you have a land raider, taking a vindicator is a good option since that forces anti-tank fire power around more.

With obliterators not being fearless anymore, chaos heavy support is very competative. True, that oblits have all the guns, but then again you don't have much ranged anti-tank in the list.

So either are good options. I would recommend you have 2 vindicators in your list total, that way anti-tank fire is split more.

True, didn't think of the split fire that would indeed help, the oblies not being fearless isn't much of a concern since they are units of one they won't run, they do however give more victory points on BGNT and Purge the alien. I will probably go with your advice thou and fit the vindi there, get some money and buy a second later

I like the Vindi but the problem is range and keeping it alive.
Blocking line of sight to the Vindi with a couple of Rhino's going flat out in front of it after it shoots its helpful and just for BLOS while the Vindi travels to reach firing distance.

Vindi is a massive threat and will gain attention from your opponent.
If you can keep it alive then great.

Looking at your current list I think Oblits would fit better.
