I have a ton a of Steel Legion models, but I want to paint them to look like DKoK. That being said, I love that old school look for the DKoK heavy weapons. I was thinking using the ork zzap gun and lobba for lascannons and mortars, but thats expensive. So I ask you oh wise dakkanaughts for any advice you can give!

I assume buying FW would be a much too obvious solution.

If you are good with conversions you can do quite a lot by getting a styrene (plasticard) rods and tubes variety pack (can be found on E-Bay and hobby vendors) and make your own.
That's how I plan to add extra Autocannons to my DKoK army.

There was a whole series of Guard heavy weapons on carriages. You can get them on ebay and even still buy them from the Collactors section of the GW website. The lascannon in paticular doesn;t even have a seated figure so it will be easy to Legionify.

here they are

Forge Planet (yeah, i know, how original) have some cool looking gun carriages. Not sure how they compare to the classic GW or FW DKoK versions size wise, its hard to tell with no figures in the photo for scale. But that said they come in sets of 2 at $7.95 which is pretty cheap, slap on a plastic cadian/catachan heavy weapon and you're set

That is a pretty sweet gun carriage. I've been looking at WW2 and WW1 models for count as. I like the idea of using some short barrelled howitzers for mortars...but it's hard to find any that costs much less than GW or FW...
