So me and my friends are starting a little tourney and its different in that the only mission is Purge the Alien.

So I'm making this post to ask for help in what I should use or tactics I can use to do well in this mission type, since their is no objectives and its just a pure kill fest.

I use Necrons and my other friends in the tourney run these kinds of armies; Grey Knights Dragio Wing, Imperial Guard Vets and backfield support stuff,
Orks just alot of boyz and nobz with no vehicles, and Space Marines with just basic stuff.

Any help would be appreciated

They told me I had too many guns, I disagreed.

You ask what tactics, but by making every mission just about killing you've taken most of the tactics out of the game. It will come down to which army can put out the most hurt, plain and simple. Little KP to give away, but plenty of punch to take them.

Yes I understand that by doing this one mission type it takes alot of tactics out of the game and I'm fine with it as is the rest of my friends.

So Im just asking is their any tactics out their for a mission like this or great units to use for this mission type?

It comes down to list building. The only real difference is that you'll see lots of vehicles (dont need to contest) and very little investment in troops (dont need to score).

MSU and light vehicles are easy KP so dont take them.

Beefy tanks and max sized units of infantry are what you are likely to see so weaponize accordingly.

I have a feeling that the Draigo Wing is going to have a blast.

Two key things you can do to help.

1) take big units, not many small ones. Also don't worry about taking lots of Troops.
2) a shooty army that doesn't have to move much can put out some early punishment, and also won't have to give up easy KPs on transports.

To that end I think Tau would do well... possibly also IG, although less so because the points mean you WILL end up taking a lot of units.

There are no tactics. The only "tactic" is to buy Draigowing and get it read before the tournament starts, and then not be a complete idiot as you play a game where you have 3 units total and your opponent has way more VP available for them to collect. And since there are no objectives there's no reason to care about movement or board position or territory control or any other strategy, so all you need to do is focus fire on the least durable unit each turn.

In short, you might as well just give a prize to the GK player and save everyone from wasting their time on such a terrible idea.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
