Hey there,

I need help when im playing agenst my friends Ultramarines. he has a land raider ( Firestorm cannons and assault cannons) and i am having trouble taking it down. It has 13 armour all round and strengh 8 is the minimum to do a glancing hit. Not many ork weapons have S8+....

What do i buy to take them down without spending too much money?

1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!

I havent played orks for a very long time and not in 6th but deff rollas seem a good choice or bikers with powerklaws unfortunately these are two expensive units mostly

I think you mean AV14.

Power Klaws are usually the best option, especially on a Warboss.

My favorite method of cracking them is to use Deff Rollas.

Other than that, maybe allies?

Also, welcome to Dakka!

I have had my LR cracked by many power klaw warbosses and it's not fun lol. Get to it fast, and hit it with klaws or deff rollas. If he was using the regular LR I would say you could get away with simply ignoring it seeing how you are orks. But he has the LRR/LRC, that will put some hurting on your orks.

If its 1 Landraider, you can just ignore it most the game. Position your units so that the templates dont cause as much damage. Also note, Landraiders are one of those units that seem far scarier then they really are. You will only take a serious sting from the LR itself if you let it, ala positioning your units to take max damage from one.

But in saying that, what has been mentioned. Biker Boss is probably the best, followed by deffrollas, then DCCW and drive by power klaws

Best bet is a warboss with a PK. He hits at str 10 with a lot of attacks so you have a good chance to get rid of it. If you want you can put him on a bike and speed him up the field to snipe it quick. Other than that, deff rollas put a hurt on them as well with d6 str 10 hits so its pretty reliable. Unfortunately we dont have much in the way of range to take it out so youe gonna take some hits to get rid of it. If you can, just avoid it.

Or take tau allies and grab some railguns.

Warboss hits at str 9, not 10, as far as I know, due to the Furious Charge adding +1 AFTER the str gets doubed from the PK.

They still kill Land Raiders pretty well. So do Killa Kans and Deff Dreads.

Generally though, Land Raiders are quite easy to ignore most of the time.

Bosses are base str 5, so str 10 even without the charge.

Not as reliable as the warboss but only slightly less so is the boyz nob with PK, str 9 each time you hit with him seeing as you charge each time you attack with him(against non-walker vehicles)

I've encountered one once, I used my warboss and a boyz nob to glance it to death.

Thank You

first of all, its armour 14 and secondly,

power klaws, tankhammers, deff rollas, and beamy deffguns I would suggest.

As mentioned above - there are three ways: Powerklaws, Deffrollas, and Walkers.

Boss powerklaws are best, Nob powerklaws can work as well. Deffrollas deal D6 str10 hits (plus the normal damage inflicted by the ram), and generally do a great amount of damage. Your walkers will always be hitting 3+ at str10 as well, so that works out.

The general theme here, is to get close and personal.

TL Rokkit Deffkoptas or a few nobklaw bikers are what i depend on for anti armor. My necron friend brought a monolith last game (dick... lol) but my bikers and koptas ripped it to shreds on turn 2 due to the sheer mass of Str8 attacks flying at it (Monoliths have 14 all around, so Deffguns were worthless)

Personally i dont have much success with deffrolla wagons, but thats because for SOME REASON my friends always roll a damn 5+ when they aim at it so it goes boomboom on turn 1-2. Talk about bad luck on my end, so i cant say it works or not.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
