So, here are some speculations I have been having on some fluff. If you take all the speculated Tyranids in the universe and have them surround the galaxy on all axis, and commence attack at the same time, would this technically justify a come the apocalypse scenario? Would you have galactic cooperation against this threat? If not, what would you guys think would be the most likely outcome? And on a side note, if such an action occured and you were in this particular situation, what would you do, meta knowledge not included?

And on a completely different note, I recently read about a Tyranid hive ship absently grabbing an imperial ship during a battle, and eating it. I know very little about imperium production rates, so I was just curious how fast they can make new ships and get a crew trained for it. On a side note, if an astartes ship was swallowed by a hive ship, with her full crew aboard, what would you say their reaction would be, and their chances of survival?

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

If the full Tyranid Hive Fleet hit the Galaxy simultaneously all life would be more or less doomed yes. It is said that the Hive Fleets encountered so far are just the tip of the furthest tendril of the Tyranid race.

It's open to interpretation, really. Some of the sources I've seen imply that the Tyranids are really, really hungry after their long trek from other galaxies and would end up starving to death before doing much damage, others imply that the Tyranids are becoming less of a threat as we work out how they think and how to kill their fleets. 40k's got a dozen apocalypse scenarios hanging over it constantly, I wouldn't worry to much about the 'Nids.

Uh... so.. If I counted right, you have 8 or 9 questions in that post, only one of them having to deal with your title....

In order:

1. Perhaps - if the Tyranids really are running from something, it's more likely that whatever it is will begin this Apocalypse scenario. Tyranids can still have allies in Apocalypse as far as I am aware.

2. No. Nothing will ever have a galactic scale co-operation. Not even the end of all things.

3. Tyranids can eat virtually everything. (I'm not sure if that was a question, so that's not an answer.)

4. I defer to another to answer that, idk.

5 They'd attempt to destroy the Tyranid ship from the inside out. Their chances of success would be wholly dependent on the circumstances - and if it was meant to be part of the lore - who was writing the story.

Every single xenos race is on the verge of conquering the galaxy, it's frankly rather dull.

And the only race that has managed to conquer the galaxy constantly teeters on the brink of annihilation. I agree, it all gets a bit predictable after a while.

All it will take is every other race to kill each other off while the Eldar go hide doing their thing and come out once everyone is dead

What would happen if the Astronomicon was snuffed out before this happened though? I believe it is in the Tyranid codex that they are being drawn to the Astronomicon like a giant devouring moth swarm.

IMO, the dark eldar don't want to conquer the galaxy, the are content in the web way, coming out to feast on souls, if the nids did in fact wipe all life off the face of the galaxy, they'd probably just feast on nids, instead of every other life form that was, and when the nids leave, we don't know whether the webway goes further than out galaxy, so maybe the dark eldar can rape and pillage other galaxies too. The eldar still have their craft worlds, which makes them vulnerable, chaos is in the warp, making their destruction by the nids not very likely either, on the whole, the only factions that will be destroyed if the nids do all jump into the galaxy is the factions with things to lose in realspace

Another scinario that might be more likly is if all the orks gathered under one warboss, the IoM, tau, and eldar would need to band together to live

Also, if Chaos got organized it would stop being Chaos. And seeing how it is dependant on humans to exist (much like any gods/religion), it would only destroy itself by destroying the IoM and other intelligent races. But then again, it's Chaos, so you just don't know.
