Hey guys,

So I've been building an army of Traitor Guard and having a blast. It's based with a heavy emphasis on fluff over competitiveness.

It's a purely insurgency force, not going to be an all-conquering army. Because of this I'm trying to limit the amount of vehicles in the army (MAYBE we'll steal one from an armory someday...) and focus mainly on infantry.

I've been doing a TON of modelling in the force so almost every unit is converted and identifiable as such.

For the veterans I have Cadians with Fantasy Chaos warrior head plus extra spikey bits and little things here and there to beef them up. These guys represent legit former Guardsmen with tons of experience and have now turned to the worship of the dark gods.

For the regular Guardsmen, I have Catachans with Chaos Marauder Heads from Fantasy, obviously representing the militias training out in the lawless sectors and wilderness to bring down their oppressors.

Finally, I have 20 cultists from the Dark Vengeance set. I converted the ones with CC and Autopistols to all have lasguns or autoguns as well, and I'm wondering how to classify them.

The next two units I want to make are the common rabble who just grab a gun and start shooting at their evil imperial oppressors, which will be count as conscripts.

Second I wanted to make a unit of escaped prisoners we armed, obviously using penal legion rules.

Question is, what would make for a better unit of former prisoners? I was originally going to use the cultists as the conscripts, but now I'm thinking since they look so evil they might make better former prisoners. As for the common rabble, I was thinking either Empire MIlita or Bretonnian Bowmen converted to carry lasguns.

What are your thoughts? Which makes more sense? Or do you guys have any other good ideas for switching it up (Empire Flagellants?)

WAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!

Look at the Hazardous Enviornment (something like that) upgrade for Cadians. I think theyre on FW. Its mainly goggles and gas masks. Then take a look at the Space Marine game; the Traitor Guard are wearing almost-Cadia armor in black and grey with glowing green goggles.

For my loyalist guard I use the old metal Cadians as penal troopers. The convicts get the dodgy old stuff to work with, rather than proper, shiny new or venerated old kit

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Would be fun to see Mordians rebel, but that's just me.

If you have nothing nice to say then say frakking nothing.

Empire Militia are good for common rabble. They look a little old for 40k but they do have random hand weapons, and you could just throw a couple gun arms on.

WAAAGH!!!
