I'm not really surprised for the reasons already mentioned. Although I'll say that its more of an industry wide thing to avoid sales. Heck, Privateer Presses Cyber-Monday sale is just free domestic shipping on $50 orders instead of $75 orders.

It's the monday after Thanksgiving, when people go back to work and online-shop on their computers (basically). It's the internet version of black friday and people don't get trampled or tazed.

...GW never does sales. The closest thing to a 'holiday sale' you ever get are the megaforce boxes; the Space Marine box is $250 compared to $355 for all the components individually, Necrons are $250 compared to $357 for the individual components.

In my many years of table-top gaming I have noticed this to be true. I think because it's such a specialty market for hobby gaming that sales are really impractical for most of them.
