Amazing. The level of detail is just amazing, and it looks exactly like what a ruined building should be.

Far better than anything games workshop has produced This is what you should see when you open a box of terrain.

These would be perfect for anything - apocalypse, planetsrike, spearhead, cities of death, and normal 40k.

I say this a bit often, but you should do comissions.

By bolter and honour, by blood and fire, we shall cleanse this galaxy. By Vulkan, and by the Emperor, CHARGE!

Yo Dawgs, I heard you like grimdark, so I put grimdark in yo grimdark in yo grimdark in yo universe that is obviously grimdark.

They look great, overall. Since you're pushing yourself, let's see if I can nitpick anything...

Texture - Maybe it's just the bias of someone who has also mucked around with the material, but when I look at the edges of floors and buttresses, I see the texture of cut foam(core). It's not glaring, it's just slightly different from the texture of the wall faces and once it's been identified, I can't un-see it. Others may not have that issue, though, so whether it's worth dressing up in the future is debatable.

Broken edges (or, "Texture, Part II") - While most of your broken wall sections seem to have varied, textured edges where they've crumbled, the edges of floors have an appearance more akin to that of somewhat roughly hewed stone. The cuts are angled, but the resulting facets are still pretty large and relatively smooth. Perhaps a bit of sand glued to the edge (or some such thing) to give it a more jagged, broken appearance would help.

Mixed styles - Looking at the red building, specifically, I find the mix of architectural styles a bit jarring. Some of your arches have such shallow points that they look more Roman than Gothic, but the difference is just subtle enough to work. That bottom row of windows, however, really jumps out at me as feeling wrong. Not only does the rigid, angular style not jive with the rest of the piece (all of the pieces, actually), each window is itself slightly asymmetrical. They're the single feature out of all of the buildings posted that I actively dislike. Personally, I think visual/stylistic continuity trumps variety, but I can't fault you for trying to incorporate a bit of the latter.

Vents - I only see two and there are no shots of the underside, so this one is pure speculation. Is there anything underneath there or just flat ceiling? It's not critical, especially when the underside is in a difficult to view area, but continuity between the outside and inside of a building does a lot for plausibility which, in turn, makes for better terrain. If you haven't added anything, I'd consider doing so, even if it's just a simple hole and grate, on future pieces, if not retrofitting these.

Well, that should be some food for thought, I hope. Again, the overall impression is great. In terms of layout and finish, I consider these more than salable, let alone table-worthy. The posters and statuary are nice, characterful touches and your rubble work strikes a nice balance between realism and playability.

Next time you have a photo session, I'd love to see a few pieces laid out together in a city (of death, even) block, if you have that many in your possession at any given time. Even if that precludes good lighting and tripod use, I think the effect would be pretty awesome, both for prospective clients and those of us that just love looking at nice terrain.

Are these made of Styrofoam? If so, can I ask, how the hell did you cut those arches for the windows and doors? I've been trying to figure out how to cut arches in foam for months now, and I fail every time. I've tried knives, hot wire cutters, etc. Nothing seems to work. My arches always come out messed up, or they'll look good on one side, and totally messed up on the other. Any tips/tricks/help would be greatly appreciated. I'm on the verge of giving up for good lol.

This is exactly the type of terrain I want to make. Excellent work man. I'll look forward to see more of your work.

Fantastic work! The "Thought of the Day" posters are a great touch, as are the cracks, debris and bullet holes. Well done.

Great looking buildings. I'm also a fan of the posters. Its the small details like that which really adds to a piece.

I would much rather spend time assembling painting, and making these kinds of buildings rather than the ones sold by gw, these buildings are much more in character and they are really interesting to look at rather than just hopping in one to get a save. i love the look and feel of them. Nice job!

Many thanks to everyone for their comments/critisisum and kind words, I am grateful.

I agree with the people whom say they have Character, I myself am found of them, and am always sad when they sell lol! But keeping them doesn't pay the Bills.

Anyone can go down to their FLGS or GW store and buy one of the kits, but those with the skill to make exceptional terrain pieces like this are to be applauded. Good work!!
