Hi guys,

I'm posting this for someone who's english might not be up to par. New user Dwalin_Dragonfer has been having issues with not staying logged in, even though he clicked the box for that, and often when he tries to submit posts, he gets brought back to the login screen.

Could it be an issue with cookies?

It probably is. I had a problem like this with my tablet. I could log on but as soon as i moved to another Dakka page i would be logged back out again.

It could be problem with cookies not being set for some reason.

It could be that the existing cookies have been corrupted. Tell him to logout of dakka, then make sure dakka is not open in any browser window (just navigate to google or somewhere), and then clear all dakka related cookies (or just clear all cookies). Next, restart the web browser and then try dakka again.

The most likely thing is a proxy server (such as cell phone provider) changing the IP address or adding headers to the browser's request. Basically this means that dakka cannot verify that your friend is coming from the same machine each time, so logs him out automatically as a precaution. Unfortunately there is no workaround for this short of using a different browser and internet connection.

Related to the above, if you use a plugin or web browser which changes its identity frequently, then that will also log you out automatically. Try a different web browser to see if you still have the problem, and if you do then it is connection related, and if you dont then it is web browser or plugin related.

I appreciate it is an annoying bug and quite conservative security settings compared to most sites, but we have an extremely low rate of session hijacking as a result which keeps everyone safe.
