Here is something I thought of today. Why cant i drop drop pods on infantry? And cause tank shock? I think that would be hilarious and fun little cheese tactics!

Yeah, why can't you get tankshock with drop pods? That sounds like it'd be fun!

After all these years of searching for Marbo...he found me. Heretics beware! He's back!

Pods (drop pods that is) are already stupid good xP no need to make em better.

I bet you that this kind of thing gets raised anytime they revise pods, spods, or any derivation at a GW "let's make a new codex bbq"

PM me! Let's play a game!

I used to to that in Epic. The rules for drop pods were that you had to place small counters representing the pods onto a large counter and flip it over about 2 feet in the air above the table where you wanted them to land. So if you did it right there was a good chance they would land on your enemy and do some damage. I usually only did this with the whirlwind pods and the plasma cannon pods, but sometimes with the troop carriers too.

The reason I didn't do it too often with the troop pods was because if you failed your save the pods crashed and the troops were lost.

If they added this to 40K they would need to put some chance of losing the contents of your pods and allow those units being squished a chance to snap fire and blow up the pod before it hits them.

Death or Glory on an incoming Drop Pod with a power fist. I punch the falling chunk of metal so hard it lands somewhere else.

If they allowed such a thing i would force a dangerous terrain test on the occupants or something like that.

Also if tank shocked and passed couldn’t the opponent just surround the pod and not allow disembarkation?

Give drop pods to chaos and I would whole heartily agree.

Most immobile assault army ever, chaos is thy name.

wellll landing on an uneven surface of skulls bones and other goo. (makes the ground slipery?) joking aside though its probably best not to tank shock as the unit inside wouldnt be able to disembark as well anyway with that rule.

You could disembark on the next turn... but then you kind of ruin the surprise.
That, unless you drop empty pods, just for the lulz

I believe the doors on a pod use explosive bolts to open, fluff wise. That way if the tank shock didn't work and the pod was surrounded, perhaps a mechanic for damage caused by explosive door opening? Any unsaved wounds equals an unobstructed door for exiting pod?

I thought it was because of the inertial guidance system and the computer in the drop pod did it's best to find a stable landing platform on unmoving terrain or something?

Or did I miss that this was some kind of joke thread and just ruined the whole thing?
