In the beginning of 2012 I had an idea to build Soviet-themed ork army. I thought that red paintjob and orkish war style would be fun and satirical representation of WWII USSR army. Hence I set forward on planning the ways to convert orks into lean mean red-n-green fighting machine.
My overall plan is to build a speed-freak army under leadership of Warboss Gorwazzov ("gor" blood, red, slaughter, "wazza" speed, Kult of Speed, "ov" an ending to give it a Russian flavor).
First things first, I want to build a prototype squad consisting of: Warboss, BigMek, Nob, 19 boyz, and Bommer. That way I will be able more or less cover different patterns for different units.
Over the time I have acquired different conversion bits from several manufacturers.
Here is the list:
Dragon Forge
-Urban Rubble Wasteland bases
1x 120x95mm, 5x 40mm, 20x 25mm
Kromlech
-20x Orcs in Budenovkas
-8x Mechanical Crushers
-12x Bionic Arms - Buzzsaws and Drills
-6x Mechanical Monowheels
-18x Orc Armoured Torsos
-18x Mechanical Torsos
-30x Mechanical Gun Arms
-30x Mechanical CCW Arms
-6x Mechanical Legs
Puppetswar (I ordered 50x heads but because it took them much longer than usual to complete the order they sent me 5 extra heads from my order plus 20 German Ork heads )
-55x Red Army Orc Heads
Spellcrow
-x10 Orks Storm Flying Squadron heads

I decided to get 8 biker nobs and a painboy built. For the waaaagh banners I am using banners from wfb orc warboss box (got em at thewarstore.com).
Also started working on the trukks. My idea is to build 3 trukks with different propulsion systems powered by nuclear energy, jet, and electricity. Jet trukk will have skies and nuclear trukk will have tracks instead of rear wheels.
Last sunday picked up nobz, dakkajet, and battlewagon on sale at FLGS. For battlewagon I will be substituting tracks with 4 big wheels from trukk.

Progressing in assembly of bikes and nobs torsos. Trying to figure out how to position arms on bars and with weapons.
Decided to build painboy on bike with his crazy sidekick. Ended up modifying couple things and scratchbuilding some.

Looks good... a lot of good
The plasticard job on the front mudguard/ram is spot on and I like the theme of the army.
I'll be watching
May Gork and Mork drive your WAAAAAAGH!

Thanks for the feedback!
I have been busy fitting arms and hands. All I have to do now is sculpt shoulders from greenstuff.
Ended up cutting 3 big choppas into pieces and gluing them because they had two hands each, which didnt fit my plans.
Had to cut one of the legs on two models, so decided to replace them with the mechanical ones from kromlech.
Also used a mechanical arm from kromlech. After few adjustments I was able to pin and fit a big choppa into it.
I am hoping that in couple days will be able to complete the gang.

Finally completed all of the biker nobz.
I used two dakkaguns for each bike, so ended up four short. Modified four big shootas from boyz sprues and attached them with help of styrene spacers.
I am excited about wagghh banners. Local ork player gave me an idea that I modified to fit my needs. Added different details for two flags do differentiate them.
For brake bars I appropriated bent paper clips.
Ended up with: 2 nobz with pk, 6 with bc (2 with waggghh banners), and a painboy.
I am very excited about how the project came out. Proper paintjob and nice bases will accent all the details and make them look awesome.
We be rollin...

It has been a while since I posted anything about my ork build.
I have been working on the dakkajet and took some pics, but have not posted them due to lack of time.
Here is a link to my dedicated dakkajet thread: Bommer Goes Woosh Woosh Woosh. I will be continuing the build in this thread.
My next step is to add scratches and worn paint. After that, will paint the crew.
Nice red coat of paint, can't fly without it .
Added details.
Bullet damage.
Airbrushed wash.
When dirty is good.
Detailed bullet holes.
And here is painted panel that goes into the back of the plane behind grot gunner. An homage to BSOD.
