So far loving the fluff behind the Flesh Tearers, and behind Gabriel Seth, Not only do we share the same first name but he is just a total BADA$$!! Been playing around with some colors and here's my WIP Sergeant Varkus.
Any comments and critiques are welcomed. I love pushing myself and winter break hit so will be definitely painting a lot more!

Looks pretty good. It's a really nice red and well painted. OSL looks good, skin looks really good.

One thing though, it might just be the picture, but I think your edge highlights seem just a little too pinky.

Apart from that, it looks good. I should also say though, some people on dakka are really into removing mould lines, they are right, they show up much more in photos than in real life. But that's just a little thing. Good job.

He is looking pretty sweet mate. I have done some tearers in the past and my mate has an army of them. Think I am going to have some allied with my Silver skulls as they are just cooler than blood angels

Thanks for all comments folks!
@alanmckenzie The highlights are bleached bone with a red wash over twice to tone down the intensity and kinda make it blend. How would you approach highlighting the red armor?
Also any effective ways to remove mold lines, i currently use an exacto blade but open to other suggestions!

Thanks!

Knife blades are the way to go with mold lines. And normally some orange or a brighter red is used to highlight the armour (the bleached bone makes it look vaguely pink). Also, is that a bit of OSL on the plasma pistol and shoulder pad?

That is some OSL, at least my attempt at it looks kinda funny hoping for some feedback. If anyone is interested i have the base for Chaptermaster Gabriel Seth done if you folks wanna see it!

The red armour is nice and dark, so I think Merchite Red would do fine for the highlights. You'd still see them but they'd be nice and subtle. But experiment. Maybe a merchite/blazing orange mix, or a (whatever your base red is)/bone mix. I find subtle is best with highlights, especially darker schemes.

As for mould lines, yeh, a little craft knife is what I use. Sometimes needle files too.
