Hi all. I couldn't figure out how to take a default GW base and make it into the parched, cracked earth base I wanted without getting really time and work intensive. So I decided I needed my own bases.

Materials -
Oven Bake Clay - color is up to you, I used a deep crimson
Something to flatten clay evenly - I used butter knife
Something to impress the cracks - I found a cheap mold at hobby lobby thats perfect
Something to cut circles the EXACT size of a normal base - I used the cap of a vanilla extract bottle (perfect size)
Pebbles and paint
Cookie Sheet + Paper + Oven

End result with some unpainted legs (guess what my next project is)

Of course you can spruce up the base EVEN more with more sand or grass and such...but I can make 30 of these in less than one hour and less than 5 bucks. Plus these are just troops, my ICs will have better.

I think I may just add in an earth magnet to each base prior to baking for mass and well I like having magnetic bases

To make the cracks you can also just use a craft knife and slice and stab lines in the basing material. I used this method on my gs bases.
