Anyone play chess here?

Not often, 'cause nobody ever wants to play me. But yes. I do possess the requisite knowledge for the game.

I will play, usually it's something I do on camping holidays in the tent. It's not the sort of game most people want to play. Still, causes less arguments than monopoly.

Yeah, I generally get 2-3 games in per week, 1-2 of which will be against humans. I'm probably the best or 2nd best in the school, not including staff.

Not often, mostly because there's other things I prefer doing with my free time.

Nobody around here seems to have the patience for a game of chess, and everyone on the online versions are people that sit there every day and play it.

Mine's p_gray and if you want a game, just ask. If we get enough people on dakka adding their names to the list, we could even perhaps have a dakka tournament?

I play checkers with chess pieces. Does that count?

Oh man! Chess! I haven't played in a loooong time. I like it but am awful at it. My dad was pretty cool at it though.

Hmm... You could have a chapter master as king, librarian/chaplain as queen, perhaps have assault, tactical and devestator squads as rooks, knights and bishops, and scouts as pawns? And then I suppose you could have very similar for CSM as the blacks? Or perhaps orky versions of each instead?

On the subject of 40K chess, perhaps Warone and his machine could make such a thing? Or you could just use normal models..,

No, I never took it to that level, just played when I was a kid and when I was deployed.

I play, but more because my brother is rather good at it. I maybe play about ten times a year? He plays online though.

I used to play in HS. I beat a friend in 37 seconds once. To be fair though, I was quoting Monty Python during the game, and he was losing his temper. Our teacher thought it was hilarious (she's a MP freak).

It's funny. I went through my whole life with people telling me I was really smart, and that I would be good at intellectual things, only to find out that I'm terrible at just about anything that requires mental capacity. It's better to be a stupid moron.
