Hello dakka dakka!

So i was board and thinking of new HQs for the humans and i thought what about a rogue trader HQ? so i came up with something like this.

(based him off the SM chapter master)



Rouge Trader Captain Pts:225

WS 7 BS 4 S 5 T 4 W 2 I 6 A 3 LD 10 sav 3+

Wargear
Plasma pistol
PowerSword
Rogue trader coat
frag and krak grenades

Special Rules
motley crew*
Duelist**
Independent character

Motley crew: Traveling across the vast galaxy the rouge trader has made many strange and interesting allies from all walks of life, and they all have the utmost respect and honor for the captain. The controlling player may take 2 different allies, that are not CSM, chaos demon or nids, These allies are considered battle brothers and do not need to follow the allies force organization chart, If the Captain dies then the allies will return to their original ally standing with that army.

Duelist: The rogue trader as had many close encounters during his travels and trades. Because of this he has become quite skillful and elegant with a blade. In close combat if the captain is challenged he may use parry.

Parry: If an enemy lands a hit with a weapon that is not unwieldy the captain my attempt to parry the attack. Roll a D6 On a 5+ the captain blocks the incoming attack, Note parry my only block one incoming melee attack, attacks from pistols can not be parried


This has not been super refined or tested just an idea i thought off, going for the, well pirate kind of thing with out being dark eldar

Why is he ws 7, not even death cult assassins are ws 7. Combat is not his primary thing he should be around ws 4 with maybe an upgrade to ws 5. Also why he is he strenght 5 and toughness 4. His intitive should be around 4 or 5 (rouge traders do have to be fast on their feet but shouldn't be above the highest super humans). If he is wearing a coat his save should be 5+ and 4+. Rouge Traders are still human.

That being said I do like the Motley crew rule.

I know like I sound like im whining and all but he is human so give him human stats and reduce his point cost.

I was not sure if fluff wise they are human or stem from the SM genes, thats why i just give them SM stats that being said here is the edited stats.

Maybe a bit more balanced then before, IM still thinking of keeping his point high simply due to the Motley crew rule, which can be a very powerful thing to use. lets say 200 pts

Rouge Traders are humans. For more information about rouge trader see fantasy flight rpg rouge trader. It's a 40k roleplaying game where you take the role of a rouge trader.

Now 200 points is way to much. Right now his stats is around an Inquisitor (1 higher ws, I, s but 1 less wound) How many points do you think motley crew is worth?

Motley Crew is a cool idea, I do like it. Although it's not that amazing when you consider that for each ally you have to bring 1 HQ and 1 troop choice, your going to fill up fast on crappy units that are mandatory.
Am I right in assuming this would be an HQ choice for IG and SM meaning they'd be the primary contingent?

Company commander stats fit pretty well no? I'd just model an alien bodyguard and play it legal.

well the idea with motley crew is that you dont need to bring a HQ for your allies, so basically you have pick any troop or elites.
