Extra HW or shields? Which is better for basic boyz?

I do either Extra Hand weapon or spear and shield depending on how many i am running

With big un's additional hand weapon, others shields is the norm and the big uns spot is usually savage orcs in most armies I have seen.

I'm a big fan of the additional hand weapon.

Hammer or Anvil? If Hammer, additional hand weapons. If anvil, spears and shields.

Bows.

I run both but my army is more themed than competitive.

2 mobz with AHWs and bigboss worked pretty well so far. They wont win any war of attrition but that´s not their job so it´s ok.
Just my big unz got shields.

One thing I do not like about extra hand weapon is they get slaughtered by war machines and sometimes by regular missile troops. You need to go big numbers wise if you go extra hand weapon.
