HQ:
Dante-225

Troops:
Sanguinary Guard, Powerfist, Banner-240
Sanguinary Guard, Powerfist- 210
Assault Squad, Powerweapon, 2x Melta- 225
Assault Squad, Powerweapon, 2x Melta- 225

Elites:
2x Sanguinary Preists, Jetpacks- 150

Heavy Support:
Storm Raven: 200

So while Dante isn't the greatest HQ, I DO like 2+ troops that can hit pretty hard. What do you guys thinks? Tips? Suggestions?

I would swap out the melta for plasma in the assault squads

Meltaguns make great anti tank guns though.

Well I made it so I could easily shuffle the points if I need flamers for hordes, meltas for tanks and plasma for MEQ. Reason I like melta though is because it's an assault weapon.

EDIT:
Flamers are assault as well but Im talking TEQ here.

I can see the logic with Melta weapons, although I would be tempted to go for Melta Bombs. As for the plasma, they are Rapid fire, but, this just means you need to be a bit disciplined with movement and fire co-ordination.

My Libby and honour guard squad can throw out 13 AP2 shots per turn, which is bound to give anyone a bad day :-)

I think the list looks good as is. I don't recommend plasma guns on assault squads cause you really need assault weapons, as you mentioned.

As long as you can wait a couple of turns to get into combat! Ain't gonna be a lot of long shots here!

Keep meltas.

I would be more for a liby more assault squads maybe dc on the raven causing some carnage.

Plasma on assault squads is alright and melta can insta kill more stuff as well as being handy can openers.

I see everyone has a liking to librarians. Never having fielded one myself, what's the benefit to them and how do you play with them? Just curious.

Thanks!

In 5th i would stick him in an assault marine unit give hime shield and rage.
he gives cover while moving up and then him and his unit kick butt.

Could take mephiston and just be a boss and have him kick everyone's teeth in

They buff your units and can possibly defend you from psychic attacks. it can really help.

They are also fairly cheap so you can take more other stuff.

cowpow is right on. The Libby is a nice cheap HQ that has a variety of powers to choose from, whether they be Codex or Book (Divination/Prescience, for example).

Nothing wrong with going the Dante/Sanguinary Guard route. A little cost bloated IMO but it can be fun. My favorite Dante unit is a Honor Guard squad with plasma guns. But again, it is a very expensive unit.

But his Tatical Precision can pin point drop and that has won me games before. The fact he and his squad can be places they don't belong and deal with anything with all of those plasma pistols. It can make a huge difference under the right circumstances.

Dante also gives their IC -1W. That can be a killer blow by itself......and when your shooting so many plasma shots at AP2. Your going to get something really quick that shouldn't die so easily. And he's no easy meat either. I love me some Dante.....no homo.

I don't like this list. It'll have to come in piece meal. That makes it real easy to kill those small squads, even with FNP - because on turn one, 100% of your enemy's army will be shooting at 50% of yours.

DoA just doesn't seem to work in 6th.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

This. This is why reserves are bad in general. And the dead turn after deep strike is killer. Literally. Operation "Steel Rain" is actually pretty poor in practice I think.
