I took my ridiculous Daemons to a 22-player event at Gaming, Etc in Stratford, CT last weekend.

Here's a link to the blog post with battle reports and pics of all three games.

Daemons are ridiculous!

Never underestimate the power of bad dice!

Well done indeed! But game 3, on the Mawloc incident, he would have placed the template, and then, being unable to place the Mawloc, would have mishapped. A 1/6 chance of dying is far better!

Edit: Actually, he may have had to move his own Mawloc away... I'll have to double check the wording.

That list is ridiculous and looks very fun not to either play with or against.

Congratulations on the win, although I might be mistaken you mentioned his T9 Tervignon assaulted, it seemed like it was some Screamers but I thought the to wound chart went..
(S-T: To Wound) 5-5 : 4+; 5-6: 5+; 5-7: 6; 5-7: 6; 5-8: 6; 5-9: unpossible!

Yep, str 5 flat out can't hurt t9, I learned this the hard way at Da Boyz GT when my opponent had T9 hive tyrants, psybolt ammo and still couldn't wound, in combat, hammerhand - still can't wound (with swords)!

Congrats on it and nice battle reports though, always a good read and nice job taking photos, I can never bring myself to do it.

I think that tyranids are actually one of the few armies that can give your nasty Tzeentch daemon army a good fight. I may have to have a test game one of these days.

I run a more balanced list and a similar list was really tough at Da Boyz. I ran against 2x Hive Tyrant with TL Devourers, 2x Carnifex w/ 2x TL Devourers and 2x scoring Tervignons. He got endurance on the Tervis and Iron Arm on the Tyrants with Warp Speed too - made it very tough to ground the MC's, get units into them (Fiends in my case) and try to tear them apart before Poisoned Preferred enemy gaunts overwhelmed my guys.

Sorry for the slight threadjack, but how are you finding your matchups against tyranids? Are they a tough matchup for your daemons or do you think your daemons still have the edge over the bugs?

The huge advantage Daemons used to have against Tyranids was the ability to completely ignore their Monstrous Creatures other than to tie them into murderous multi-assaults. I do not think I deliberately assaulted only a TMC in 5th edition more than a handful of times. Instead, I just piled fearless wounds onto them - which made Terivgnons much less effective than they were.

The change to Fearless (which has helped Daemons), has helped Tyranids more in this matchup. Add in the Biomancy powers and I think the Tyranid matchup ranges anywhere from very difficult to evenly matched depending on which psychic powers they roll up.

The real game breakers are Endurance, Enfeeble and Iron Arm. With so many psychic rolls in most Tyranid armies you are going to hit one of these and there is not really a good response to T8 or T9 Monstrous Creatures unless you bring Daemonettes or Seekers (Fiends also get lumped in here, but they do not generate the same volume of rending attacks)

With how good Screamers are now, I have not fielded Seekers since the very start of 6th - although I really want to find a way to cram in a 12-14 woman unit in there.

The general problem dealing with FMC is something Tyranids can also exploit - and Biovores are brutal.

I know my Daemon lists are different than most people's - but a Screamer/Flamer army seems like a poor matchup against Tyranids. They can use their expendable Gaunts to eat overwatch and pile into the Flamers. Screamers do not have enough attacks to chew through 40-50 Gaunts plus the T7-9 MC that are sure to follow on.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I think that tyranids are now a tough matchup for daemons. It isn't exactly an easy matchup either for the bugs, but it definitely is much better than back in 5th for them.
