If there isn't a Tabletop game based of the Codex Alera Series by Jim Butcher, than I want to make one. Even if I make it just to play with a few friends. What do ya'll think about the plausability of a game based off of it. I think I would make it play similar to Warhammer Fantasy. A big army battle game where troops move in blocks and there is some access to furies and the powers they use.

Look at it, it is the perfect universe for a new TTgame! We have great background on five armies already. The Alerans, Canem, Marat, Icemen, and the Vord. As well as room to expand with the ancient civilzations such as the Children of the Sun.

Not only is the story perfect setup for a TTG, but I think models based off of this universe have so much potential. Roman Legions with elemental furies, Anthropomorphic wolves with blood-magic, Barbarians who connect and fight with beasts, Humanoid Yeti's who control the cold weather and use icicles as weapons, and the alien-bug-like Vord.

well, I think I want to make it just for me and a few friends to play. But if it turns out a good game, I suppose I could look into that.
It would give me a good excuse to try sculpting a full model, as compared to the half-sculpting I do for big conversions.

You might look at basing this off Song of Blades and Heroes or Armies of Arcana. Both are pretty solid systems with really good unit creation if you want to go skirmish or mass battle.

I'd second this suggestion.

No real need to create a whole new game when there are rules engines like Song of Blades (warband size skirmish) or Armies of Arcana (mass battle) that incorporate a unit builder mechanic to allow you to stat up whatever miniatures you'd like.

The only challenge is finding the right combination of statistics to represent the units as they appear in the books, but that can be half the fun.

Well, I will pull inspiriation for the game system from all of those, but I really want to make my own game. That way I can really get the depth and feel of all the different armies properly represented. I thought it would be best to design my own game system for Alera, instead of trying to match Alera to an already existing one.
Thanks so far for the feedback. I'll be reading up on the rules from all these games for ideas of basic game mechanics. I think I will go with a massive battle style. I want to see big blocks of infantry going at each other.
The biggest thing I want to emphasize is how furies are used and manifested. Or in other armies cases, the Canim's blood magic, or the Marat's connection to their beasts. I don't think I've seen a system yet that matches that enough for me to be happy with it.
