Good afternoon all.
So after much debate I have decide to begin my blog regarding my empire army. the idea basically came after seeing an empire featured on the games workshop website, I believe it was an armies on parade entry. Now empire wasn't an army army I had ever considered and also at the time I was heavily into 40k, but seeing this army got me thinking, how cool would it be to have army empire army themed as if it were defending a city or town. Also with the release of those gorgeous for world models I set to work.

The backstory for the army would be that the reside on coastal part of the empire (haven't actually decided where yet!). Baron for the town is pa retired pirate turned privateer. After his brother had claimed the title for himself and exiling him he turned to life of piracy. Eventually he saved some empire noble (not yet decided) and earned the favour of the emperor thus recruiting him as a privateer. Whilst out on a patrol they come up against a small band of ork pirates. The baron wins the day but at the coast of his beloved ship. The remaining crew salvage what is left of the ship and the baron falls into retirement vowing never to sail again.
Upon my Barons retirement he returned to his former town claiming it for his own after defeating his brother in a duel.
He now has an entire fleet under his command and sends them on patrols safe guessing the waters of the empire.
The salvaged ship it's self was used to construct the barons manor house and various parts can be seen decorating the battle standard bearer.

The whole idea would be that the town would be fairly nautical in nature given that it resides on the coast and acts as a trading post for the empire itself but again this is a work in progress bit of fluff.

I know it's not a great picture just trying out the iPad camera lol. Anyway here is the start of one the mannans blades. Not using them as their models. These guys will the coastal patrol. Now throughout the army the colour scheme will be blue and white with a dash of green. Most will either be halved or quartered blue and white but these guys are different. They wear white tunics over blue. The tunic states that they are the coastal patrol. Patrolling the beaches etc of the barons territory.

I like the background fluff. From what i can tell the model looks good to.

Just want to make it clear I do know the images aren't of the best quality, once the army is finish I will taking proper snaps of them with a decent camera etc. hope you enjoy.

Beautiful model I like the fact he's a commander not a fighter.

Yea. I just love the arrogance on his face. Kind of made me feel this sense of importance from him as he knows he is all powerful and mighty, no one can best him in a one to one fight or tactically and he knows it.

Ok so as promised here are the next set of photos the wizards!!!!! Ok so the first guy is my celestial wizard, now his story is that he is a navigator of a ship currently docking at the town, later on I will be doing a unit and saying they are pirates from the same ship aiding the town in its defence.

So guys looking to do armies on parade on ideas for scenic boards!!

Nice theme for an army. I like your painting skills. The free handis very cool. Anchors ftw!

If you're looking for an idea that fits the fluff of your army for army one parades, here is something that I think would look striking.

Picture this: An isolated cove located somewhere (pick cardinal direction) from you Baron's city. A band of sneaky Orc pirates attempt to beach along the shore line. Fortunately, your Baron caught wind of the plot due to his Wizards scrying (a think a lore of heavens wizard fits the fluff of a naval army). The Baron has set up a beach-head counter assault on the Orc army.

Here you can now display a cavalry charge getting ready in the wings, a group of flagellants heralding the doom of your town, an artillery barrage, an a landed Orc ship with the clash of Greatswords and Black Orcs (or something suitably nasty).

You could also replace the Orcs, with a gang of human pirates sent by the Baron's brother.
