A group of friends are playing a campaign of the 40k RPG by FFG, and my character is a female Imperial Guard Noble....which isn't a problem, that is easy to find or convert from existing models....
The problem is I was told that later in the campaign we are all going to be promoted to space marines.
Okay....finding a model for that may be a problem. >.>
I know there are hundreds of sites for custom bits and pieces for space marines, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any that had conversion pieces for a female space marine?
Now I know that these threads usually turn into a debate about figures in armor....so let me be clear from the start that I'm looking for something that is both sensible and obviously female.
I also know that way back when games workshop had made a female space marine model, but that is both too expensive for my budget and a bit too ugly to put on the table haha
I only really need the body and head, the rest I can make from assorted bits, and I have some moderate skills with green stuff, but not enough to justify my making a full body out of it.
Thanks in advance.

An easy one for the head is to use a Sisters of Battle head. As for the body, I can't really think of anything 40k that would work besides Sisters of Battle again.
I'm sure there are some great bits out there somewhere, but it's not my specialty so I can't say for sure.

True, but it's their campaign so it's not like people on the internet going "ew you can't do that" is really going to stop them. If you don't have a moral problem with it, you might as well think of it as a modeling opportunity and point them in the right direction.

All right, cool
one of our guys is playing sisters of battle so maybe he has some spare heads...I imagine with most of them being metal I can't use the bodies from them, but I may be able to rig one up with green stuff if I have a suitable head

There's a meowmeow minis or something that makes Lady Space Marines. You can get female heads from about anywhere. There are tons of companies out there that make 28mm female heads. Googling that will probably set you on the right path.
The one caveat on meowmeow, is that they only make legs, torsos, and heads. When you put Space Marine arms on them, they will look utterly ridiculous. Pretty much turns them into gorillas, lol. And regular Space Marines had trouble with having gorilla proportions to begin with. So it will be a conversion challenge to fit them arms that look both Space Mariney, and fit the size of the model. This thread can give you an idea on the proportions problems. If that isn't a problem for you, that may be your best bet. However, for one model, this will be pretty expensive since I think they sell them in packs of 5.

Well, if your buddy plays SOB, just borrow one of the power armor SOB models. It would make more sense for your noble to just be given good gear rather than geneseed anyways.

Technically under all that power armour, you wouldnt really notice the difference in gender unless you were going for the "chainmail bikini" vibe.

I still have a old Gabs "Female Advanturer in Power Armor with sword and bolter" the is for all intents and purposes and female space marine psyker (RT era PA, power sword, RT era boltgun, psyker sigil on shoulder). Use to use her as a WH Inquisitor back in the day, but have no good place for her in the current edition of the game.

I think I might be able to help here, as I recently added some female marines to my Blood Angels.
First, if you just need one model, you might consider "Libby" from Hasslefree Miniatures:
http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=powered-armour-libby~hfsf100&category=miniatures~sci%252dfi-humans
She has the bulk and look of a marine with clearly female features. The pistol and axe can pretty easy by trimmed off and replaced with GW bitz for bolter or chainsword needs.
Next, I would second "Meow Meow Minis", at http://www.meowmeowminis.com/storepage1646474.aspx
I've ordered from them multiple times, and am very satisfied with the service. As noted elsewhere, the bodies and legs are a bit too slender to match marine arms, and especially the marine helmets. So, if you go that route you may have to buy the bare heads just to have a head that matches the body, and then trim down the arms. That said, you might want to use the contact link, and ask Jacqualine if maybe you could get just a pair of legs, torso, and head - they sell them in packs of five, but they're a very small operation right now, and in my imagination I figure there have to be a few castings where a head or leg set gets an airbubble in one or two of them, and they have to scrap the good ones because they don't make up a complete set.
Finally, it comes down to if you want to look like an Astartes or not. If you want to look perfectly space marine, these suggestions work, or a female conversion head on a normal space marine. That never sounds appealing to folks, but it actually can look very nice. For example:
http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/6/13/37884_sm-Space%20Marine%20Female%20Mirage%20Knight%20Freehand%20Marble%20Effect%20Custom%20Chapter%20Test%20Model.jpg
Certainly a world better than those folks who tack big green stuff breasts onto a power armor torso. You know, like this:
http://tutofig.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/How-to-make-a-Female-Space-Marine-in-Robes-Simple-5-minute-tutorial.jpg
If you're not going for the marine look, and would just like a female in slinkier or more form fitting armor, I would recommend going through the Infinity catalogue:
http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/
They have a large number of women in form fitting armor that doesn't exactly scream 40k, but still looks great.
And, that's all I have for now, I hope you find the perfect mini for your character!

Come on now, how many times has there been an RPG where the higher a level a female character's armour is, the more revealing it becomes? It only makes sense that as a female Space Marine her armour would basically consist of an outfit made from a couple band-aids and a handful of dental floss. And that's even before she got TDA...

The genetic implants are incompatible with females, sisters of battle are only normal humans with power armour. I only know of one female space marine.
Basically, a guardswoman become a POW, was enslaved by a chaos worshipper and when her master was asleep, she killed him, his power armour which had a daemon in it whispered to her to put it on and put it on she did, because this is Chaos, genetics be damned, she was turned into a chaos space marine, using magic!
Unless you are willing to make up entirely new fluff and probably have them not Imperial or something.

Well lets see, theres the whole "samus is a girl" reveal, pretty sure some of us were surprised to hear a female voice come from the first brotherhood members you meet in fallout. Also female spartans if halo is your thing. Tells you something when the closest to this in 40k is bolter wielding gaga-nuns >> Also i think i remember Traveller had a fairly functional approach to it.

Add to this the massive reshaping of bone and muscle would mean the character would not look feminine at all (the process would see the character have no breasts or female bone structure

Yeah, basically, that's what all of the biological arguments against female Space Marines are based on.
It's basically a bunch of extra work, using an initially inferior physical platform, to achieve more or less the same result.
It's not like the universe is running low on male children, nor is it terrible concerned with gender equality, lol. There are no female Space Marines because there's no reason to make them.
