Hello all!

I was looking over the GK codex as I was thinking of making up a GK army and I noticed some tactica and things that made me think of a question.

Since all SM codexs can have some/most units "Combat Squad" and the separate Combat Squads count as two different units in all regards. Except the FOC. Which brings me to my next question...

If I bring one Tac Squad (for instance) of 10 people and I Combat Squad it does it count as the 2 Mandatory Troops Choices? I see some people think it does (for lower point games), and I want to know if that's legal or not. Why not just take 2 5 man squads? I think it's because at a full 10 man you get the special weapons....

But the question stands, is this legal?

even Combat Squaded, Tactical Squads take 1 Force Organization slot.

So, You have to bring a minimum of two squads, regardless of combat squadding.

No. It is a single Troops choice.

Definitely NOT legal. As you said yourself, they only take a single FOC slot.
You need to fill 2 FOC slots to fulfil the minimum troop requirement.

Ah okay thanks. So then, does that make the AoBR set an illegal army? As it only brings 1 Troops Choice

The AOBR set was designed to be an army for C:SM

I know. C:SM still has to follow the FOC though.

EDIT: Unless there is some Special Snowflake rule I missed somewhere

IIRC it comes with scouts?

Been a while since I've seen it.

Well, nope NM it's an illegal army. However to be fair the AOBR is a thing of its own, with special rules on how to play a game.

Yep. I guess it's not. Neither is the ork army IIRC.

Well, good to know! Thanks guys! Not like you would WANT to have only 1 Troop FOC but....who knows what the person wants to do

If you just say all the tac marines have bolters, and ignore the flamer/ML it is a legal army.

A bit of a proxy, but not a huge stretch.
