So, I just picked up the anniversary edition, having never played Oblivion before only Morrowind and Skyrim, whats some cool things about Oblivion?

Interesting quest chains, easter eggs, anything cool about the DLCs?

The dark brotherhood questline and the shivering isles DLC are the two best parts of the game by far.

I'll concur that the shivering Isles was probably my favourite part of the game.

Unlike both Morrowind and Skyrim though you don't have to worry about wandering into something you can't fight yet since Oblivion had level scaling to your character everywhere.

I liked the scenery in it more than Skyrim and Morrowind. Shivering Isles also stands out to me as one of the best parts of the whole series. Cheese for everyone!

Well, so far, Oblivion is the only game to have provided me the chance to play a vampire lizardman highwayman in a horseback chase followed by a squillion guards across a huge bridge in the middle of a raging storm. Sword fighting said guards on the parapet and then being blasted off the edge and losing my horse in the river underneath.

So yeah, it has it's good parts

Might be a step down after playing Skyrim, but despite the broken levelling system there is something satisfying about having numbers for your attributes.

Its a good game if you consider it apart from the rest of the series, as its rather more a generic fantasy game. I'd recommend getting some mods ASAP as they really make the game though (Eldar Scrolls games are a lot better when played on the PC).

But as far as the vannila games goes, I'd recommend leaving off the main quest up till you go to the Priory as after Kvaatch Oblivion Gates appear everywhere and make exploring a bit of a pain (not saying that those segments aren't fun to do, they just impact the game's enviroment in a large way).

Shivering Isles is probably the best part of the game. Don't play through it all in one go though, level up a bit on Mundas between quests. Also, a fun titbit, the Sheogorath Shrine quest has bits rewritten based on which part of the DLC you're on (whilst also chaning the voice actor of Sheogorath from a squeeky fellow to a beardy Scotsman, which is always win). I.e. (Spoiler) "Oh, its you my lord. Well I guess it is quite fitting for the god of Madness to be praying to themselves..."

Indeed, although it can be wierd late game running into random bandits with high level armor and weapons.

Thats one thing I liked about Skyrim was that most enemies had a difficulty cap. So once you passed a certain level certain enemies wouldn't be any threat at all.

I've already started doing this. 1.5 hours of gameplay, over ten levels in acrobatics. Great Success.

I have Oblivion on the PC and couldn't really get into it for some reason. Probably because my previous foray in the Elder Scrolls series was playing Morrowind on the X-Box. I thought maybe if I were to use a controller I'd be warm up to Oblivion more but I can't seem to get my controller to work with the game on the PC.

I have since bought a version for the 360 not only to play it with a controller... but to also earn xboxlive achievements. woooh!

Indeed, I would always end the game with high acrobatics, but mostly because I was always running. I never walk anywhere.

In PC version it toggles with caps lock by default if I remember right. I always have it on, no point to turn it off.

The Dark Brotherhood Questline is by far my fondest memory of Oblivion. Followed by being Arena Champion at level 1.

I have been playing through Shivering Isles recently. It is good fun as well!
