I am building a 1000 point list and I am torn- after troops,support and hq I have about 300 points left.

My bike squad is 5 bikes
2 have plasma rifles
2 have bolt pistols
sarge has power maul
and a sanguinary priest with a powerfist on a bike

sternguard 1 squad of 10
5 combi weapons (3 flamers a plasma and a melta)
a melta gun
and a lascannon
sarge has power fist

they would be positioned with brother corbulo or a vanilla sanguinary priest.

both can lay down serious firepower

Oh god both are good choices,

It depends, does you army need more Anti tank? Bikes can fill that role a little better (count as attack bikes)

Otherwise sternguard are awesome in BA, just dont run the las cannon as its a waste to the unit and causes situations where you are not targeting what you want to with that unit.

Imo Corbulo + 9 Sternguard in a droppod will never do you wrong. Kit them out with 3 combi-melta and you will have a unit that can cause some serious pain. Corbulo being the small fire tank and capable of taking anything not str8 or ID in cc.

The list is 100 pts so i doubt i'll see much in the way of heavy tanks. sternguard it is. thanks!

if you replace the bolter with anything other than combi-weapons, you lose access to their special ammo. Just be aware of that. I run 9-1 stern corb and let me just say that corbulo ALWAYS has a special spot in my army.

I enjoy the amount of love Corb is getting in 6th, if I could get a HQ version of him I would :p

How about corbulo AND Tycho in a Sternguard drop pod?

Corb and Tycho in a drop pod are good. Just don't get them mobbed.

Or Tycho. He's good too. The libby in a pod can't cast anything the turn they arrive. Makes for a hard first turn. In fact, that is a significant advantage shield of sanguinius has over divination powers.
