I have converted back over to the dark side, starting up a Chaos Space Marines army again. I've heard good things about using allied Daemons, and I always like to mix things up, so when I get tired of painting (Chaos-y) Power Armor, I can paint gribbly Daemons.

Now, the Bloodthirster is clearly a nasty beast, but the GW model is perhaps their most embarassing piece of work, ever. So I have taken it upon myself to build a better one! (for the second time! I've done this once before... but this time's a little different ). I wanna make this guy a real terrifying sight, huge and intimidating and as awesome-looking as his points cost/stat line deserves!

Without further ado, here's what I have so far:

A plastic Daemon Prince base, cloven hoof feet from a Fantasy Giant (which make him already a centimeter or more taller than a stock DP), the skull head from a Tomb Kings Necrosphynx, and horns from a Vampire Counts Zombie Dragon.

Other kits that are contributing bits to this project include:

-WoC Warriors
-WoC Knights
-DoC Bloodcrushers
-Ogre Kingdoms Bulls
-BA Sanguinary Guard
-Dark Vengeance

...and probably a few others before I'm done.

For now I'm pretty set on where it's going, but there are a few things I haven't quite planned out yet, notably which arm and what weapon to use for the right arm (have decided on left arm already, as you can see he's got a DP left arm hacked off halfway up the forearm).

Any comments and critiques welcome, and keep on Dakka-ing, Dakkanauts!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Nice start - reminds me somewhat of the Devil from the film Legend (played by Tim Curry) but a lot less camp... Interested to see where you go with this...

Nice work!

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

I'm very interested in seeing where this will be going. Things look very promising at this stage.

That's pretty grim looking, I can't wait to see how it ends up. Keep it up.

Thanks! But is it sufficiently DARK? That's the question!?

It reminds me of that too! Not intentionally though. Originally I had the horns angled down, but just twisted them into the up position to work on the model, but then liked the way it looked better.

I'll post further progress shortly, and also a pic of my previous converted Bloodthirster (which I eBayed, about a year ago or so).

Looks exciting! Love the feet size, I'd think it'd look goody, but it actually looks pretty nice!

Thanks! I was worried when I actually put the feet on the legs, but I'm hoping that with the additional armor plating that I am going to be putting on him, that the proportions won't seem too... disproportionate.

A little progress on the Bloodthirster!

I attached a claw/fist from the Dark Vengeance Hellbrute, as well as some armor plating from the same kit as greaves (of a sort). Here's the progress:

The "greaves":

Closer-up shot of the arm:

I am planning to have him wearing quite a bit of armor, as I always imagined a Bloodthirster to be clad in ornate, heavy (possibly brass) armor, as befitting a Greater Daemon who is all about being a WARRIOR.

Hope y'all like it! Further advice and comments happily encouraged!

So haven't been working too much on stuff, but a little progress. On to the pics!

The Bloodthirster/Daemon Prince:

As you can see I've added a sword arm, converted from two separate sword arms of the Daemon Prince model.

Here's a back shot:

And a close-up of the base, littered with bones and helmets of Blood Angels and Guardsmen:

And, as a little bonus, I've been working on some Terminators too. Here is the commander dude (left) and one regular one:

Any commentary welcome - Thanks Dakka!
