Hello chummers,

Catalyst Game Labs has announced the lineup of Shadowrun games for next year, including an update to the RPG, a card game, a board game and a cool minis game called Sprawl Gangers.

http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2012/12/21/the-year-of-shadowrun/

Sprawl Gangers is being co-designed by Ross Watson and Randall Bills and has a very strong Necromunda-ish vibe, set in the world of Shadowrun.

Wow. That's a lot of stuff.

Spring 2013:
Catalyst will publish Shadowrun: Crossfire, The Adventure Deckbuilding Game.

Summer 2013:
Catalyst’s launch of the Shadowrun, Fifth Edition RPG.

Fall-Winter 2013
The next big release for the year occurs with Catalyst’s publication of Shadowrun: Sprawl Gangers, a tactical miniatures game designed by Ross Watson and Randall N. Bills.

Spring 2014
The Year of Shadowrun gets an extension into 2014 as Catalyst will publish Shadowrun: Hostile Takeover, a Euro-style board game with a strong, immersive theme running through every aspect.

And then, of course, Shadowrun Online.

If we still have old Grenadier shadowrun minis, can we use them in the new game?

I would imagine... It allows a lot of customization so you could probably use any minis you want.

Sprawl Gangers is a competitive, skirmish-level miniatures game for 2 players, with everything needed to game right in the box. Players will take on the task of building gangs (Ancients, Halloweeners, First Nation, and so on) following specific point values of a scenario, and modifying the various miniatures based upon what new resources (weapons/gear/magic/tech) a player gained through previous games. Gangs won’t simply fight for the sake of fighting, but will actively building their turfs and resources. Among other things, this will allow for the hiring of the exact right shadowrunner when they need that ace in the hole. All this adds up to the experience of watching your gang grow and expand through exciting play across a swath of games.

Sprawl Gangers will be sculpted and manufactured in conjunction with CoolMiniOrNot, who have run three of the most successful miniatures game Kickstarter projects to date: Zombicide, Relic Knights, and Sedition Wars.

“We could not be more excited to be a part of this new facet of Shadowrun. When we initially started talking about the possibility of doing a Shadowrun miniatures game with Catalyst, I personally jumped for joy. We have some big fans of Shadowrun in the Cool Mini family; so you know Sprawl Gangers will be receiving some major blood, sweat and tears from our staff. Old and new Shadowrun fans alike would do well to expect great things from Sprawl Gangers,” said Kevin Clark, Director of Research and Development at Cool Mini Or Not.

Plus there's Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun Online that ought to be coming out.
Maybe it's because I could never get a group going until this year, but it seems like fourth just flew by.

Well the good news is that it only took Catalyst 2 years from first showing to release Leviathans. So, based on that, we can expect All the Shadowrun stuff by, what, 2020?

Hey, that's not true! It took Leviathans FOUR years.

The Shadowrun guys are a lot more punctual with their releases. I expect good things here.

I am surprised a 5th Edition is coming out. 4th is a very good RPG.

Yikes. Was it that long. I'm actually quite excited about Shadowrun and hope they can hit these dates.

Hey, 2020 is a very good year for all things cyberpunk...

The supply does not get to make the demands.

It was but it had also been around longer than any other SR edition if you don't count the 20th anniversary version (which I don't as Catalyst was nice enough to come out with a short pdf outlining the few changes... it was more like a big errata than a different edition). New editions (no matter how good the previous one is) are a normal part of the RPG fan and financial cycle.

New designer diary from Randall Bills, the other half of the game's design team. Looking very Necromunda in there, which is a good thing IMHO!

I dig Ross Watson's work and love Necromunda. That sounds like an intriguing mix.

I really hope that the minis for the shadowrun game don't suck. The art for me personally is very hit or miss with almost nothing in between so I'm a bit wary about how its all converted into 3d objects. It is nice to hear though that we'll get the first sneak peek at the 5th edition rules on Free RPG day.

I'm all in on that one.

I really like where this is going, and the updates are really sweet.

Sadly, Shadowrun died with 3rd Edition.

While the old games weren't perfect, 4th ruined both the mechanics, and the setting, lol.
