Hey guys!
Having downloaded some emulators for the GameCube and Nintendo 64 from CoolROM, I decided to play some games on them (as you would). Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that trying to play a game intended for stick based controllers on a keyboard (and because these were emulated, I couldn't use my mouse at all) is like trying to crochet with a lobster claw instead of a hand. Moving and aiming in Metroid Prime was a pain in the arse (compounded by the unusual control system, which I could have dealt with on an actual GameCube controller. Probably) and trying to do pretty much anything in Conker the Squirrel was completely impossible (there's a reason you don't see many platformers for the PC!).
Where can I find GameCube and Nintendo 64 controllers that will work with my PC? I do have a generic USB controller with the same buttons as a PS2 controller but it doesn't seem to work.
By the way, if it helps, the emulators I am using are Dolphin (for the GameCube) and Project64 (for the Nintendo 64).

You can use a regular controller, but you'll need to map the keys to the controller buttons. (The options for this should be within the emulators options / settings.) Alternatively, you can use something like this USB Converter (also, ebay for a standard controller) Though you may still have to map the keys.

I use a wired xbox controller. Works a great for emulated games and on loads of pc games. Also steam has started supporting controllers far more.

This. Wired 360 controllers are awesome when it comes to pc controllers.

Thanks guys.
For Dolphin, the GameCube emulator, when I plug in the controller, it comes up with 2 extra options instead of just the 1: SL USB Joystick and DBR USB Joystick (Can't remember exactly what the options were called but those are a rough idea). Which one should I pick?

Here's the driver I use:

You can run it as either a standard videogame controller, or have it emulate the Xbox360 controller. The latter option is useful for games that already have presets for the 360 controller.

OK, I tried mapping the buttons and sticks on my controller to the GameCube emulator...It didn't work very well. It frequently decided that 2 different inputs triggered the same button (For example, the main stick and the buttons). What's going on?
It worked marginally better for the N64 emulator, possibly due to having less buttons to mix up, although there were still several smeg ups.

Most USB controllers will work, just map them out. Which emulator are you using?

I'm using Dolphin (a GameCube emulator) and Project64 (a Nintendo 64 emulator). For some reason, when I try to map the buttons, it doesn't work very well, with the main stick also activating several buttons on the GameCube emulator, and multiple buttons (including the right stick) activating the start menu on the N64 emulator.
