Hey all, I am going to convert up 10 chosen to use with Abbadon in my CSM army.

My question is, do you think one squad of ten or two squads of five is a better option?

Also, what wargear should I give these?

Right now my army is fairly balanced with ranged and close combat so either setup would work.

Thanks for the help everyone

Current Armies: Chaos Space Marines(Building), Orks(Completed), Vanilla Marines(Near Completion), Trollbloods(Completed), Axony (Building)

Chosen die like normal Marines. They do no longer have infiltrate which makes them less useful. You could get Havocs with special weapons for the same purpose.

Except, for some reason, plasma cannons.cannot be taken by csm units. Only plasma guns. The only.upside is you can have five meltaguns or plasmaguns per chosen unit.

I would think a mix of melta/flamer would be best. Plasma guns are nice, but I hate losing my guys to overheat.

I generally run 5 with Plasma guns. Mostly because as Chaos I never had any problem killing hordes, due to our melee, and meltaguns dont really need 5 shots to do their jobs.

Plasma targets is where you need mass of fire. That is, terminators and MCs. And that's where the chosen come in.

I pretty much NEVER run CC chosen. Everything they do in CC, Terminators can do better, and usually cheaper.

If they have a land raider for them, I would run the CC version and use the DV chosen models (axes and PFs). If using rhino's, I would use 4-5 plasma's or meltas (depending on what your lacking), with a few extra buffer models. I would not walk them around (big target for getting shot) and if you are only taking 2 special weapons, normal marines work much better.

Bring 6 units of 5 with plasma guns behind an aegis with Abby to give them preferred enemy so they re-roll overheats When targeted go to ground for a 2++ then join abby to them next turn to give them fearless and allow them to act normally in shooting. You pretty much will own your territory but will need an away team haha then I would go with bikes and a drake.

For HS I would always go MoN autocanon havocs.

Yea I know but most of the armies out their a marines from my experience and this is when the overheats will matter most anyway. It's strictly a fun army, you face guard or pretty much any xenos and you already lost ha ha. Tau out range you, eldar/DE will dance around outside 24 and kill you. Orks will swamp you. Pretty much this is just a fun list idea I had but will never be very competitive. Abby is just too high a tax, which essentially increases the cost of the chosen who are really pricey. One five man unit all with plasma guns is 165, so for six you spent 990!!! that's for 30 MEQ who all have a 24" range and need an aegis to hide beind add abby and that aegis with quad gun and you aare already at 1355!!!!

Moral of the story is don't take abby and friends under 2000 points because your range is so terrible.
