I'm still fairly new to 40K, so I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken about any particular models. I did my best to ask for names and write things down, but in the heat of battle...

My gaming shop has been doing 1500 point games for the last 6 weeks. Today's battle involved 2-man teams, chosen by the players. Our Mission: #1, Crusade. 4 objectives were placed, warlord traits rolled, and models deployed.

Deployment:
Spoiler:

The Necrons/Space Marines side. In reserves are a Storm Talon, and a Night Scythe carrying 8 warriors. Three of the four objectives are visible in this photo; they're the small brown squares on the islands in the top left and top right of this photo, and the third is underneath the Ghost Ark on the left.

The Grey Knights have a Stormraven and a few infantry in reserves, and the Tyranids have quite a few reserves. On the left side of this photo are two of the objectives again. The fourth objective is inside the sandbag area at the top right of the photo. Note that the objective in the trees was in Mysterious Terrain that turned out to be merely dangerous. The other objective on the left of this photo was in Mysterious Water, which we never entered.

I hate fighting against this thing, but this Dreadknight has such a lovely paint job that I couldn't help getting a close up.

Turn 1:
Spoiler:

Nids/GK went first. With Night fighting in effect, some Genestealers infiltrated just shy of the board's centerline.

Mordrak and some Ghost Knights managed a Deep Strike behind enemy lines.

The Dreadknight used its teleporter to jump across the battlefield, into range of a number of units. It managed to kill only a single Marine in the Devastator Squad.

The turn passes on to the Necrons and Space Marines. The Doomsday Ark fires into the infiltrated Genestealers, killing enough of them to force a morale check. They fail, and fall back. The Dreadknight is assaulted by the Destroyer Lord and Wraiths. Mindshackle Scarabs prove ineffective so the unit attacks, leaving an empty Dreadknight base-sized hole.

Four scarab bases assault Mordrak's unit, and losses are even on both sides.

Turn 2:
Spoiler:

It turns out that there was a GK assassin in the Devastator Squad! He managed 2 kills.
[i](I tried uploading a photo of this 3 times. Dakka accepts all the other photos, but this one just keeps vanishing. Strange.[)/i]

A Harpy Deep Strikes and attempts to kill the Spider before it can make any more scarabs. Two blasts and a large blast scatter into empty battlefield, though the large blast does cause the Ghost Ark's quantum shielding to flicker a bit.

Mordrak and his Ghost Knights destroy all the scarab bases.

The large blob of gaunts assaulted the wraith unit. I was worried the wraiths would get tied up for a turn, but the Necron unit shredded the gaunts. They failed their leadership test and fell back 3 inches.

At the bottom of the turn, the Storm Talon came in from reserves and took out the Harpy.

Having lost the ability to make more scarabs, the spider charged Mordrak. The dreadnought also assaulted, from the other side.

This plan didn't work out so well for the dreadnought.

The wraiths moved into assault with a Terminator squad that was holding one of the objectives. A wraith was wounded, and another killed, but at the end of combat there were no Terminators left.

The Overlord and his retinue of Lychguard arrived from reserves via outflanking, thanks to warlord traits. They mopped up the remainder of the Genestealers that had infiltrated on turn 1. In the process, 4 Lychguards were wounded. Thanks to the Overlord's Resurrection Orb, all 4 got back up.

The Space Marines' Librarian and his unit arrived via deep strike.

Turn 3:
Spoiler:
The Trygon tunneled in next to the Librarian.

Two Terminators attempted to assault the Librarian's unit, and lost.

Mordrak killed the spider.

A lone Grey Knight made a last-ditch effort to assault a Rhino. There wasn't much else he could do, really.

The Space Marines and Grey Knights players watch as the Tyranids player prepares to roll a handful of dice.

At this point, with significantly fewer models on the board, it became difficult to take pictures without holding up the game.

At the bottom of turn 3, the Night Scythe entered the battlefield, flew 36 inches in, and deposited 8 warriors on the "island" objective which had gone entirely ignored for the entire game. Then some gaunts got a taste of twin-linked Tesla destructor. They didn't like it. Mordrak succumbed to a mix of gauss flayer and bolter fire; this left the Stormraven in reserves the only GK model left alive. In the interest of having a good time, we all voted to allow the GK player to continue. Space Marines and wraiths assaulted the larger Tyranids, but couldn't do enough damage to kill the Trygon.

Turn 4:
Spoiler:

The Stormraven came in, and nearly decimated the Necrons holding the island objective; six of the eight were damaged, and failed their reanimation protocols. The Nids killed a handful of Marines, but nothing significant.

At the bottom of 4, the Storm Talon and the Night Scythe worked together to destroy the Stormraven. A few more nids were killed, including the Trygon. The nearby Ghost Ark was able to add a third warrior to the island.

Turn 5:
Spoiler:

After the Storm Talon's weapons and a pie plate from the Doomsday Ark took out most of the remaining nids, the game was conceded.

At first I thought you guys were using Allies, and I was like, "Wait... GK and 'Nids? ... guess the apocalypse came early."
