I'm interested in FW and all alternative models for my army for fluff reasons. My army is under the command of tech priests on an intergalactic crusade to gather technological relics of humanities past. So it should have a 'through the ages' look, which means original version models up to current off-beat ones (like armageddon pattern artillery) are what I'm looking for. Does anyone have some suggestions for where to get some fitting models? I've already managed to find some older version metal LC HW teams with wheeled guns and modify some of my vehicles.

It's actually quite easy to turn plastic cadians into old school cadians with a little GS work. The helmet is a snap & the torso is pretty easy as well, just requires either an unarmored vehicle crew or officer torso as a base, then sculpt the webbing & plate onto it.

I'm definitely not looking to sculpt or scratch build anything. I'm more interested in pieces that are 'ready as is'. Heck I've yet to paint one of my models, so sculpting isn't even in my WH40k perephrial vision.
Thanks for the suggestion though

tallarn, mordian iron guard, OLD school metal catachans, Steel Legion, Valhallan Ice Guard, Vostroyans, OLD school cadians, and then again there's also models from alternative lines of manufacturers. You might get lucky with some starship troopers etc.... Ultimately though, You've got a lot of effort to go through to pull it off, you'd just have more success dooing a skitarii legion, which do tend to be a bit more on the hodgepodge side of things. EDIT: and if you're lucky: tanith

15 successful trades as a buyer;

To glimpse the future, you must look to the past and understand it. Names may change, but human behavior repeats itself. Prophetic insight is nothing more than profound hindsight.
It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

If you are interested in venturing outside of GW models then you should look at some of the collections of figures that are available from Mega Miniatures. They bought the rights to a few different older lines of figures, so you might be able to find some inexpensive models that fit the theme you are running with. Here are a few ranges that have pieces that could work.

You also might find something from the Union faction for the Vor line that Iron Wind Metals carries.

Scotia Grendel keeps the Void 1.1 line in stock so there might be some items in there too.

There are TONS of sources for sci-fi military figures out there so if you do some digging there are lots of options. I can post more links if you are interested.

Spend some time looking on the Scotia Grendel website. There are tons of models from Void and Kromlek that could work.
I'll work on digging up a few other links for you. Automatically Appended Next Post: Warzone can be hit or miss, but there's a lot to look though

Pig Iron Productions has some cool stuff

EM4 has some nice troopers, but I think they're closer to 25mm

No, the em-4 metals are 28mm.
Mark Copplestone's best work (certainly more characterful than his current iterations of the same.)
They stand head to head with cadians (plastics) and have slottabase tabs (because GW were only ONE company using them back then)
