So on my decimator model I plan on having it have one foot on a dead ork, in a pool of its own blood. I was wondering what is a good, cheap way to make water effects? And probably a little step by step on how to do it to make it appear as a pool of blood and gore.

Well, probably the cheapest would be to use red wash/ink with a gloss varnish on top. Some inks have a nice shine to them when dry so you probably wouldn't even need to use a varnish. If you go down that route, I would paint the blood white, then wash with a slightly watered down black wash to give some shading, then when dry use the red ink or a thicker red wash with a gloss varnish on top. There are a few water effects products around which you could try using, with greater or lesser degrees of suitability, such as Woodland Scenics Water Effects (there are several different kinds, but I would think that their still water type would be the one you want here). Follow a similar process to above but instead of adding the gloss varnish, use a small depth of the Water Effects on top.

You could also use PVA Glue with red and black food colouring....
Also Walmart in their floral department sells a two part resin water effect for 7$ cheapest out there.
Wood land senics sells this water effects stuff its like a paste and its white its for making waterfalls and such which is better than their normal stuff to make ponds which is clear.
There is some clear wood sealants that people have used in the past.
Im so Anit- GW its not funny...

How much are you willing to spend on this one model? For best effects you will want to use a clear resin and add some paint to it to color it. But if you are only making one model you are best off not doing it. Start by just mixing white pva glue with paint and see how it dies. If you like the effect just use that. If you don't like it you wasted 2c worth of glue.

I read on a popular miniature article somewhere that you can achieve a great blood splatter effect by mixing your deep red paint with nuln oil wash, water it down slightly, and splatter away!
Never tried to before as of yet. If I can find that article I'll post the link here!
God luck!

woodland scenics gives you way much bang for your buck though and they have an amazing selection of flock too.
