A long time ago a bunch of people played Orks and they all had green skin. When I started my Ork army I wanted to make sure that their figures and mine could be recognized easily from each other. So I painted the skin blue.

Here are just a few. Hope you like them.

Blue Paint Jobs = smurfs

And I support smurfs. I have a 500 point ork army that I've painted blue, complete with a papa smurf warboss

I did the same thing, a bit darker on the blue.

The fluff I used was their spore landed on an ice-methane based world and that environment caused the Orks to come out blue.

I really like the blue and it looks well on the models. You could explain the blue colour in a lot of ways, they could, for example, come from a planet with bluish dirt or fauna.

Many black library books (as close as you can get to cannon with 40k) say that the tougher and stronger the ork is, the bigger and darker he is. And in the book imperial glory the orks are straight up brown. On the note of painting, I don't like the look of them much, but that is just my opinion and they are very well painted.

Though they may be blue, deep down, the orks know that no matter what they do, no matter how many battles they win, they shall never be Ultramarines.

Some of Da Boyz - if they are impressed by a Space Marine Chapter in blue may think that they can be harder if they emulate them - same as Red ones go faster

No way an Ork would want to be a Smurf. The Orks were blue first and the marines copied them.

And yes, red ones do go fasta!

Thanks for the kind words and I am working on close up shots.
