forgeworld IS expensive, theres no denying it. this is causing a lot of people to not play horus heresy, sooo i came up with the idea that if i mix some berzerkers and regular marines i could make some neat pre-heresy world eaters! but would this be legal? maybe use a baneblade as a fellblade, any other things to use as a proxy? im gonna give it a try and use them as a late heresy dating world eaters where angron has converted to a daemon prince. all i need now is the rulebook (which my friend id selling on a discount).

another reason im not ding it is because of te fact that you have to order it, yes i know its the 21st century and ordering online is the new thing but im a big hater of buying online due to having a bad history with fraud and stuff, as well as my gf. soo do you think they should sell forgeworld in store? ive heard of some GW shops doing this but not many and they have a bad selection. when i said this to the workers of my hobby store they seemed angry and said "we dont deal directly with forge world." what happened, did forgeworld sleep with your wife?

will using 40k proxies in place of HH be legal?

should forge world be sold in-game?

so dakka, talk, explain and discuss.

I'm sorry for your experiences with fraud, but that shouldn't be an issue in this case.

It's my understanding that FW creates smaller batches of their models. I don't think it would be feasible for them to supply all their stores. It's more a specialty thing.

You could quite easily convert standard space marines into valid and wysiwyg Horus Heresy variants with very little effort aslong as you arent overly concerned about armour types. That way you will have a relatively cost effective HH force that represents things fine on the battlefield (apart from the £70 book). But part of what appeals to some forge world buyers, and HH modellers is the unique look of the armours and units being produced by forge world. To me they are an army to be collected slowly (due to costs) and painted with care, I -could- make it cheaper using some of the marines I have lying around (drowning in DV, dark angel and space wolf bits) but then it wouldn't look as great as I had hoped.

As for being "legal" I haven't heard of any Horus Heresy tournaments, so aside from being equipped with the right gear its down to you and your opponent to judge what is game legal.

And as for GW Stores stocking forge world... I cant even get to my closest GW so I couldn't tell you what they stock.

You had a bad experience ordering your gf online?

But seriously - pre paid visa debit cards are pretty good for people a bit leery of ordering online, though I'm not sure if they're available in your country. In Australia, you can pick them up at a post office, and can be loaded with money without being tied to your bank details.

You won't have any issues with fraud when buying straight from Forgeworld, and they're very good at replacing models that arrive miscast, damaged or that not even arrive at all. However, if you try to get them cheap by ordering from ebay, you're opening yourself up to getting counterfeit models.

If it's a GW store - most likely because it's a different sales channel to them, and can be a bit of a hassle. Why GW doesn't just tie them into their regular sales channels I have no idea, but they seem to like keeping them separate. If it's a non-GW FLGS, I know some don't like ordering them them because, being resin, you get miscasts, and they probably don't want the customers coming back to them for replacements on special orders.

Your best bet is to buy directly from Forgeworld. You might pay more than you would from ebay, but you know you're dealing directly with Forgeworld. You'll get excellent service from them. The only issue is your reluctance to buy online, but there's really no getting around it. Like I said, try to get a hold of a pre paid debit card if you can.

Of course FW should be in stores. Its absolute rape to get them shipped anywhere and its the ONLY reason I havent given them ridiculous amount of money.
