Since the vampire lord is s5 I'd take the sword of bloodshed for +3 attacks to synergize with the red fury. You dont need s8 for too many things.

10k+ High Elf
6.5k Dwarf
7k Original Chaos Dwarf (not the crappy forge world)
6k Bretonnia
7k Wood Elf
6k Dark Elf
8k Tomb Kings
5k Beastmen
5k Lizardmen
7k Daemons of Chaos (roughly 2.5k all but Tzeentch, I find them useless in 8th other than flamers and heralds)
5.5k Empire

That is a huge can of worms to open but I like my vampire lords to be able to guarantee 5 wounds against anything that it touches rather than hope to do 16 with red fury but have the chance of fumbling and doing 2. S7/8 will kill knights and monsters at the cost of killing 6 less goblins a turn, but how often will you want your vampire fighting goblins instead of putting him into a black orc warboss?

As for the rest of the list, I love it. Looks like it will hit like a ton of bricks in combat but it is very much focused on brute force, no tricks to deal with things a great weapon can't.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I think it's a bad advice: first of all, with this item i cant get the essential Talisman of Preservation; then strength 5 is too little, it doesn't allow the vampire to face armored or tough opponents.

exactly, this is the point

I've played abit with ogre blade and sword of bloodshed, I've had better results with the sword, I do see the ogreblade being good but everything is situational I guess. Overall ogreblade is better for elves and lower strength heros. For someone s5+ its good but you can be hit or miss on its effectiveness.

I'd stick with the ogreblade, I've chewed through whole blocks of WOC with it and struck down many a champion before they could even respond with it.

With the rerolls from quickblood (most of the time) its great imo since with average rolling you'll get all but one hit and with the high strength you'll get all but one wound.

Against WoC 100% right, we only have WoC player out here though and hes horrible. So its never an issue lol. High elves, empire, skaven, and lizards are the big races where I live

I really comes down to a personal choice I think. Some people will swear by one while others swear by the other but both are great, just there are some situations where one will outshine the other.

We just had a (math-based) discussion about the Ogre Blade thing in this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/489502.page

What it came down to is that the sword that gives more attacks (+2) is better against enemies with toughness 4 and below, while the sword that gives more strength (+2) is better against enemies with toughness 5 and above. The difference is minimal, though, with a difference of only one wound in either direction.

I've never liked ghouls. They die too easily for their price and don't fit the tactical needs of the army too well.

Personally my opinion with Vampire Counts core is that it exists to either redirect (wolves) or tarpit (skeletons/zombies) so your Grave Guard and Blood Knights and such have free reign to pick their combats. Ghouls want to be a killy unit but they're priced like Grave Guard and don't hit like them.

You could have a lot more core units for the price of that ghoul block that are extra drops to get the right match ups for your grave guard and those extra core units will hold up what you don't want to fight longer.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

Crypt Ghouls + Vamp Lord with ogre blade is a perfect match up. Anything really tough with heavy armor the Vampire Lord will take care of. Anything that massive in size the ghouls will thin down.

I wouldn't horde the ghouls. Start 5 wide and 8 deep. You can always combat reform to go more wide if you need to, but initially you are better off taking away steadfast.

Really solid list, nothing needs to change.
