I play Necrons and my friends and I aren't really big fans of flyers. So, I'm looking for advice on a competetive/fun list and tactics that incorporates a lot of diversity in the list in terms of different and "cool" looking models. I play a lot of Tyranids so a list that is semi tailored towards them will be appreciated... Any advice will be welcomed.

Destroyer lords with wraiths, backed with blobs of warriors and/or immortals backed by some monoliths would be rather nasty I would imagine. Plus it fits in with the old necron game plan haha

Not really compeditive without them. Mindshackle scarabs are just broken, and the large spammy amount of fliers is what makes them strong.

I got rid of my crons because they weren't fun to play

1750 points of awesomeness, maybe with allies but the dreadknight is a great addition.
Only two flyers and it works very well

Necrons are plenty competitive without Flyers. The Most competitive build for them may involve them, but there are plenty of strong builds that don't rely on them.

Killer Klaivex

Oceanside, CA

Overlord, 2+ armor, 3+ invul, mindshackle, warscythe (warlord).
D-Lord, 2+ armor, mindshackle.
Royal Court: 5 Storm Crypteks, 1 with solar pulse.

Triach Stalker with twin-linked heavy gauss cannon
2x15 warriors, 1 unit with Ghost Arch
2x5 Immortals with telsa carbines
6 wraiths, 3 whips
5 tombblades, particle beamer and stealth
2 Annihilation barges

The court jumps into the arch and gives some serious monster killing power. Triarch stalker twin-links anything that needs to die now. Tomb Blades dump out 5 S6 blasts, while having the speed to stay out of combat. Annihilations barges provide more dakka, and the D-Lord with wraiths are the counter punch that intercepts enemy assault units before they hit your lines.

I assume you meant Destruction Crypteks. Storm's are the ones with the Haywire staves.

Here is a quick 1850 List I came up with, that has no flyers.

Nemesor Zahndrekh,

Destroyer Lord Warscythe; Sempiternal Weave; Mindshackle Scarabs;

1 Harbinger of Destruction Solar Pulse
9 Immortals
9 Immortals
8 Warriors, 1 Ghost Ark

6 Canoptek Wraiths,Whip Coil x3
6 Canoptek WraithsWhip Coil x3
10 Canoptek Scarabs

1 Annihilation Barge,
1 Annihilation Barge,
2 Canoptek Spyder, Gloom Prism

1850 on the dot. Depending on your Meta, you can sub out the Spyders&Scarabs for more shooting, such as another Annilation barge.

Well, we had an RTT today. Sixteen players, three times Necrons, and the Necrons got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The rest played for climbing place 4.
One of the Necron players was me.

I had 4 Night Scythes, 15 Wraiths, DLord, Warriors, Immortals, 3 ABarges.
Tom had 2 Doom Scythes, 3 Spiders, 15 Wraiths, DLord, Immortals.
Max had 3 Night Scythes, 15 Wraiths, 2 DLords, Immortals, 3 ABarges.

So I take it you're on the side that says you need flyers to be any good...?

Well, in this RTT, the three Necron armies played in another league. Not sure if you can do the same without flyers. They are too good to pass. But I think that 3 should be enough.

Here is my fun list. Only 2 fliers so they can easily be taken out...

DL with SW & MSS
Wraith x4, 2w/WC

Nemesor Zan
5 or 6 Warriors
Destrotek w/Solar
sits in back on a back objective

Deathmarks x7
Night Scythe
Veiltek
I like lots of options with how I want to deploy this unit

Gauss Immortals x7
Stormtek

Telsa Immortals x8

Tesla Immortals x8

Scarab bases x10

AB

Doom Scythe

Monolith

4 troops 2 fast 3 heavies = good scoring and a list wih lots of diversity and tricks. Could easily trade out the Doom Scythe for a Doomsday Ark and the Night Scythe for a full squad of 6 Wraiths and more troop bases.

Have fun.

The common bond=dlord and 15 wraiths

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

ABarges, two GArks with min warrior units each, big blob with resorb lord, lots of wraiths and a Dlord. It can be fun enough. Not sure if it's all that fun against Nids; even though I have both, I haven't actually played any matches between those.

Well, it can soak up a lot of fire when they approach the enemy.
Yesterday, the IG army had 3 Executioner with 3 plasma cannons, 1 lascannon, 2 heavy bolters each. My Wraiths (not all) were still alive while they caused havoc in the lines of the IG force.

Heh, I saw that, too.
By way of wondering, wuestenfux, what did you place in the tourney with your list? (or was the order you listed them the order in which they placed?)

Anyway, if OP is facing 'Nids, OP should take a lot of Tesla and pie plates. Oh, and some low AP for the MCs, obviously (Death & Despair squad has served me well in that capacity).

That's one way of looking at it.

Another common bond: They were all running multiple flyers... and the guy who won was running the most.

Probably not what the OP was wanting to hear lol

Well, three missions from the rule book, 20 pts per game (14 pts for primary mission, 6 for secondary).
Tom had about 54 pts, me 2 pts less, and Max 4 pts less. Winning as tournament organizer (for the store owner) is not too good. Most players were practicing for an upcoming RTT (100 players) taking place elsewhere.

I think that things are balancing out for Necrons, where the max doom/night lists are going to be seen less and less, but instead being replaced with 2-3 flyers, A-Barges and wraiths. I have been playing something similar for quite some time and have been winning an awful lot.
If you were to use no flyers, I'd say make sure to get ahold of A-Barges, probably want Zahndrekh to maximize their antitank power, a DLord with 6 wraiths, then probably 6 more. From there, fill out with troops/arks. I think you could do some good AV 13 armor saturation if you used 2-3 arks and the A-barges. Just some thoughts.
