So I have a bit of Christmas money left, and I was wondering what the heck to add to my Blood Angels army?

Currently I have:

Dante
Astorath
Librarian
2 Sanguinary Priests
40 Assault Marines
10 Death Company
10 Sanguinary Guard
1 Storm Raven

So...where do I go from here? I hear "Dreadnoughts are dead!" everywhere I look, so I assume Furiosos are null. I've got a solid amount of troops, so in reality, what else? Termies? Baals? Am I wrong and should grab the Furiosos?

Thanks

Well first off, play what you like playing, if that happens to be dreadnoughts than field them and have fun. As for dreadnoughts being dead i'd partially agree with that sentence, regular av 12 dreadnoughts are too easy to kill these days, but furioso's have av 13 on the front which makes them a way tougher nut to crack.

As for what to add, you are very infantry heavy which is not a bad thing these days, but if you are looking for some av, baal preds and fast vindi's are never a bad way to go for BA players.

Thanks for the input.

I was looking at the Furiosos or Baal Preds. Baals seem so...fun. AP3 Flamers or a TL-AC on a Fast vehicle that can scout? I like the thought.

Where to go next? Send me 10 of your assault marines. I need one more squad to finish my BA. lol/jk

Seriously though, (and like Rythem said), it depends on what you WANT to play. For example, you have Astorath, but only 10 death company. If you want to use the "Big A", he's best used in an army loaded with DC, so in that case, get more DC.

Since Dante makes Sang guard troops, he would best be used in a army with a lot more than your 10 Sang Gaurd, so in that case, get more of them.

Some other options -
Personally, I always like to try to have one Sang Priest with each assault squad. Also, I have to competely agree about the BAAL preds. I almost always use two in any list above 1500 points and they are almost always fantastic. A second Storm Raven can also be fun, but I've found that two in the same list in any game under 2000pts is way over-kill. lol

For Dreadnaughts- I have found great success so far in this addition with Libby Furiosos. I have two and each one gets attached to its own Marine squad and supports it the entire game like it's just one of the squad members. You can even use Wings of Sanguinius to attach them to jump troops.

You might also consider a Land Raider and a squad of termies if you have the cash. Since Land Raiders in our codex can Deep Strike, I have a lot of fun dropping Crusaders loaded with Terminators right in the midst of the enemy. Just my two cents. Either way have fun with your choices!

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

Well it just so happens my FLGS has a fresh Baal Pred in. I think maybe I'll be picking that up then .

If you get the Baal Predator I would consider flame weapons are cool, but if you have all flame on it and you were to get disabled where you cant move that your opponet might choose to ignore you and you have a useless model. This happened to me first time i fielded it on 5th edition. Course on 6th you might just die anyways, but it sucks to get hit and immobilized and be able to do anything. I therefore at least run a mix of loadout on it so i force my opponet to finish it off. Just a consideration... course you might put magnets on and not worry about too .

Personally with BA i like to field Land Raiders. I am different than most but, being the codex allows them in so many options and they are assault meaning you can disembark regular marines into close combat is a plus. I also like the old GodHammer setup to run Elite squad in to add fire support and especially with fliers use twin link las to shoot at them... and then move to support or destroy objective areas in the game with deploying vets when time is good...may or maynot be best tactic but i like it and its worked for me thus far in my limited gaming time .

The biggest concern I have with adding a Baal is...well if I get one I need 2, since that way one might actually survive long enough to shoot/move.

Furioso Dreadnought with Blood Talons. I rarely run my Baals in 6th so far. I run my Furioso a lot. He gets to ride in the Storm Raven (as well as another unit, for me usually tac marines), disembarks near an enemy squad that think they have an objective held no problem, assault and thanks to blood talons completely rip face. Has at times taken out a full Grey Hunter pack in one turn.

So I picked up a Baal Predator. This is by no means the end though. I really wish to add 1 or 2 more of them to my arsenal. I also do think 2 Furiosos will be an excellent addition eventually. And of course, since I have Astorath, I might as well start packing in more DC.
