In a game of fantasy my friend used Melkoth's mystifying miasma on my unit of 50 bloodletters( I know it's a little excessive) and reduced them to initiative 1. After this he used pit of shades and as they were initiative 1 most of them were dragged to their DOOM! Was this correct?

Tournament record: (W/D/L)
Space wolves : 1/1/1
Dark Eldar : 6/0/1 (1 overall win)
Daemons :8/0/2 (1 overall win)
Normal games starting 5/11/12:
Dark Eldar 13/0/1
Daemons 32/1/1
Friends armies 1/0/0

Sure, if he rolls a 3. But 50 aren't going to be covered by a template unless it's large and perfectly centered.

No, Pit of Shades uses unmodified iniative aka the init. in their statline

"Pit Of Shades is a Direct Damage Spell. Place the small template anywhere within 24"- it then scatters D6". All models under the template must pass an initiative test or be dragged to their DOOM (remove them as casualties with no saves of any kind allowed). The Wizard can chose to create a vaster portal, using the large template rather than the small template. if he does so, the casting value is increased to 17+ and the template scatters 2d6" rather than D6"."

I don't see where it says to use their "unmodified initiative."

I've never heard of any "unmodified" characteristic test other than LD. And even that isn't very common. Your characteristics are what they are at time of test as far as I know.

Yeah, I don't know of any spells that state unmodified on any characteristic except the Lore of Death spells which are on Ld.

Yeah arion is mistaken, it is whatever you stat is at the time the test is taken, so if reduced to t2 and forced to take a t test, its ontthe modified stat, not unmodified.

I don't thin I was mistaken, but that Dark Haemonculus was mistaken.

Arion, how dare you make such a ridiculous mistake? This is YMDC - we debate RAW here. Take your houserules somewhere else.

Did you read what Arion said? He quoted the actual rule and pointed out that the rule lacks the term unmodified. He is correct.

No, I didn't read it - a clear sign that his post contained a houserule as I don't read houserules in YMDC.
