"Listen closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."Leman Russ

You can attach any IC to any unit that isn't a vehicle unit and can be more than a solo unit.

I thought there was an exception for TWC laid out in the SW codex.

There's a restriction on character on wolves joining units, but not non-wolf riding characters joining.

This has been fought over by SW players with two camps forming,

1. A group that believes despite the TWM entry telling you that they can only ever join TWM, an IC on foot or in this case a bike can JOIN the TWM or in this case TWC.

2. The second group believes that the FAQ for Canis and his wolf claws equates that TWM=TWC=Canis, and thus you cannot have any model not mounted on a TWM/TWC/Canis join or be joined to said unit.

Frankly, in my opinion, the first group is a bunch of WAAC, cheesebearded, FOM, army hoppers trying to loophole TWC the abilities such as granted by a wolf priest or even Ragnar. The second group in my opinion is playing it as intended.

If you are jumping on the Dinobot meme bandwagon regarding the new Warhammer 40k Chaos models, grow the feth up!

I would point out Tyr that in 5th there was a major disadvantage in having infantry joined to a TWC squad. Even now there are some drawbacks.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Close, but missed something.

Some people of the first type that you mentioned even go as far as to say that the restriction put into place for TWM only applies to an IC on the TWM, not an IC looking to join TWM. So for example,

Wolf Priest and a Wolf Lord on a TWM. The wolf priest moves within coherency of the TWM. So it is the wolf priest JOINING the TWM, not the TWM JOINING the wolf priest and thus you are ok.

Total bullgak as far as I am concerned. Now back to holiday vacations.

It was movement and assault that was a drawback and it still happens to be that as well.

But how about a wolf priest on foot with Saga of the Hunter joining a unit of TWC and giving them outflank and preferred enemy? Or on a bike giving them preferred enemy? Or Ragnar giving them his charge bonus?

The wording of the TWM rules tells you that they can only join FW or TWC, which means they are even restricted from joining other TWM mounted IC. The FAQ equates all three different mounted cavalry we have in regard to the TWM rule. Sadly it is crappy RAW that allows this and gladly their are some conservative SW players that play it as being disallowed.

We have enough trouble trying to show people we are not WAAC players with a Cheesy Codex, we don’t need to add to the list of things they hate up for. I agree with many that the Wolf Priest should have been able to take a Thunder Wolf Mount and a pair of Fenrisin Wolves, but they did not get it.

If I were you, I would ask your opponent if it is ok before the game. If opponent say yes, Great! If they say no, don’t push it!
