I'm starting to plan my next painting task which is a scout sniper squad. I've had an idea for the camo cloaks and thats glueing thin strips of hessian (burlap) to the outside of the cloak, the idea is to create a gillie type cloak http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ef/Hires_2010-10-20-081038c.jpg/300px-Hires_2010-10-20-081038c.jpg .

What we think? good idea that will look good or bad idea that will look gash?

Actual burlap will be way too thick to look good. However, you can get the correct texture at the right scale using gauze bandages.

This is a WiP shot. The finished squad have static grass added to the ghillies as well to really sell the effect. I can take pics of the completed squad if you want.
