Hi everybody,

I play Skaven and I've been tinkering with the idea of scratch building a unit of Jezzails. Here are my reasons:

1. The current models are crap (i.e. Molds are almost as old as I am).

2. I'm not paying $40 for 3 of them when they fall under reason 1.

I know what I'm going to use for the shield and operators, but I need some sort of long rifle. I've looked at the empire handgunners but it's not quite the look I'm going for. I've also checked out reaper and didn't quite find what I was looking for.

Any ideas on where to find such a bit or older mini's I could buy & loot from?

I've seen skaven (x2) with kroot rifles, spare shields and put on a cavalry base. A bit of GS fur and it's all good.

Any Tau player usually has spare kroot stuff.

I was going to suggest using kroot rifles, but then chromedog did it already (it's perfectly possible that I got the idea for using kroot rifles from chromedog at some point in the past), though I haven't made any myself (bought a small skaven army, realised no-one played fantasy that I knew, gave up on the army, they are now sitting unpainted and unloved, but I can't bear to get rid of them...)

But as to answering your question, kroot rifles are good substitutes. Another option is to take the 9 barrels from the Empire Hellblaster Volley Gun and separate them. Good luck, and make sure that you post your work later!

(On a related note, Im looking to get rid of my Skaven if you want some more)
