Hi there,

I don't play fantasy at all, I have some background in it, and I know one of the old rulesets quite well (roughly battle for skull pass's release, no idea what edition that is or would be)
But that's besides the point, I'm working on a side project of sorts which requires some fantasy style models, in this case I'm looking for something with crossbows.

So my question is, what models in WHFB have crossbows, or the option to take them as wargear?

Dark elves have repeater crossbows, Dwarves have crossbows, Empire have em.. I think that's it.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

There's a number of older Dogs of War stuff with them. some of it is in the Classics section of GW's website.

Dark Elves also have Handbows which are basically a pistol sized Crossbow.

In the Collectors section there are the Baraganza's Besiegers models that are wearing heavy armor, have Crossbows, and are using Pavise shields. None of the other collectors have Crossbows.

So your options are Dark Elves, Dwarves, Empire, or Baraganza's Besiegers.

Pizarro's Lost Legionnaires (in the Collectors section) also has the option for crossbows. The idea is to give the front rank crossbows and the rest pikes, but I think the blister packs comes with enough crossbows for all the models.

Ruglud's Armoured Orcs (also in Collectors) has crossbows but I think you need to buy the pack including command to get them, which is a bit pricey if you just want the rank and file models.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The besiegers and other collectors models in that section are metal aren't they? That could make things a little difficult.

Also is it the dwarf thunderer kit which has crossbow options?

Well that goes to show how long it's been since I last had a look at fantasy.
Thanks very much.

Collectors models are as far as I know all metal, yes.

There are also some Mordheim models with crossbows, and some of those models are fairly different from standard WHFB models. Of course, it depends on how many you need, as it's probably more cost-efficient to buy units of WHFB than it is to buy singles of Mordheim. Plus, Mordheim is a lot of metal. Look at Witch Hunters (for metal) and Mercenaries (for plastic).

Interesting input with the Mordheim stuff, I'll take a bit of a look into that.
