ok i know this is probably going to be a stupid question so here goes ( and yes i already know...theres no such things as a stupid question , just stupid people!)

the kits that FW sell , do they ever make it to plastic kits then sold by GW ?
The kits they sell - are they all limited runs or do they sell these kits all the time ?

I only started collecting 40k again before xmas and last time before that was in the late 80's , so i missed the whole launch of FW , so im not sure if they discontinue stuff or what the story is with it ?

any ideas ?

Forge World are not limited run; however, they have stopped making a few of the models. Namely, some of their older terrain pieces.

Nothing there is currently "Limited Edition" other than the LE models that the distribute at events like the UK Games Day. Each year, they make a new LE model for 40k and Fantasy that they sell at events.

As for "Do they ever make it to plastic kits then sold by GW?" A few have, yes. The Plastic Baneblade and Stormsword kits that GW now makes come to mind. Also, I think a few of the older Imperial Guard FW tanks that are now plastic kits, like the Manticore Missile Launcher tank.

Manticore, Trygon, Valk, all were originally Forgeworld resin models then GW took them.

There is a gradual trend for the more interesting and unique FW units to find their way into normal codexes, and are usually followed, eventually, by plastic alternatives.

Save for the Hydra, been waiting years for that damned thing to come out in plastic, along with all the non-basilisk artillery.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

You also forgot the Skyray and Piranha.

Yes but watch their outrageous P&P charges. GW (the same company on the same site) is free over £10. FW is an eye-watering 12%, yes you read that right 12 &%"^ %!!!!

You do get free P&P at a high level so check out the amount. Iirc it's about £200. So if you're going to spend say £180 then tip it over with another item, the P&P is so outrageous that I never buy FW unless I am going to Warhammer World, where you either get it from stock or if they don't have it on hand they order it into the shop (takes most of a day) or post it on free if you can't wait around. For a big order the fuel cost is almost worth it to go to Warhammer World as well!

Free shipping is actually at 250. I had an order that got 30 pounds cheaper by ordering an estrangement rhino back door.

Hardly. A handful of models over the entire Forgeworld range from 4th edition to now is hardly a 'trend'. GW occasionally sees a model it would like in the main range, and does it. It's not something they actively try to do, and at recent Q&A sessions they've even said they were not doing this anymore. Most likely because there's little financial reason to do so - putting a model into the main range in plastic, while increasing that models sales, reduces Forgeworlds catalogue, and there's also less incentive for people with the Forgeworld kit to buy the plastic kit. Making an entirely new model gives them a new model to sell that no one has, and leaves Forgeworlds catalogue intact.

I also like to pick up some of the alternate sculpts that Forgeworld does for models. Alternate Dreds, tanks, foot soldiers and the like, give your army a much more unique style.

Also don't forget the various Leman Russ variants that were forgeworld only for a long time. and have recently entered into the fold again. Though the Annihilator and Conqueror versions got skipped.
