I didn't see this yet, but the newest White Dwarf is now available for download on the iPad a day before it's released to stores. Maybe this means we'll be seeing it early every month?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
To clarify, it's available for purchase and reading. I'm reading mine now.

It has historically been available the Friday before the official release date in stores. Some have speculated that it seems very early in the US as the business week in the UK is concluded already, and in basic terms they don't want to bother with it on a Saturday so it just goes out a half-day early.

Having only had 4 issues digitally, it's hard to say that will stay that way, but it's been the pattern thus far.

Well, It's significantly cheaper. $65 for a one year subscription, you get 360 degree views, you can click to enlarge most photos of new models, you get it a day early and you don't have to deal with the nonsense ads in the back.

I'm never buying another physical copy.

You left out the part where you have to buy a £300 iPad...

That and the content has to be worth my money in the first place. At least the paper copy has "other" uses ifyouknowwhatImean.

Compared to the coverage C:CSM got, this has been sadly underwhelming. It says nothing of substance about the crunch of the army, features a Battle Report with all the structure of 7 adolescents playing at the local GW shop, and has a bunch of pictures that will be on the website tomorrow.

I advise everyone to save their $10.

Yea, this is what it's been like the past few issues. I really would like to know what happened to the promised content.

Ah, but I already have an iPad, so I didn't have to buy one to read White Dwarf. Obviously I wouldn't have done that.

Also bare in mind all GW digital content is leased not bought and can be deleted from your account whenever GW wishes. It's a lot tougher with a hard copy.

Really? You don't own it at all? What about a codex or army book?

Nope, all digital content bought from Amazon or Apple is leased. Story broke where a lady had all her Kindle content deleted by Amazon because they accidentally identified her material as pirated. Not a GW thing, Amazon/Apple.

When you purchase electronic media, you are actually purchasing a license to use it that can be revoked by the issuing party(parties). When buying a physical object, you actually own that object.

On the issue of license and removal of content...take screen shots on the iPad as you read...not that hard to do. You won't get the 360 stuff, but you'll have the stuff you'd have in print.

On the issue of the issue for January, it is definitely lighter on DA material than I'd like. However, it did the job. I'm heading to pick up Dark Vengeance tomorrow. The Ravenwing models are so damned good...I even like the speeders and the honesty of the Batrep about how fragile they are in battle.

I actually find what most annoys me about the latest WDs is the Blanchitsu, Hall of Fame and Jervis articles. I don't find John Blanche's work terribly interesting, the self-congratulatory Hall of Fame seems ridiculous and Jervis needs to retire.

The absence of in-depth painting articles is really unfortunate, and "The Rivals" section is also already long in the tooth for me.

I count 54-55 pages of DA related stuff in January
I count 58-59 pages of Chaos Space Marines in October

The difference in pages can easily be attributed to almost 10 pages of product rehash in the Chaos Space Marine line.

Pretty sure that technically isn't allowed under copyright law. In which case you might as well got find a torrent of it or just borrow a copy and photo copy it. Kinda goes something like this: http://xkcd.com/488/

But I digress.

I still don't get how anyone likes the looks of the goofy large landspeeder, but at least the new flyer looks like what SM fliers should have all along.

Teehee...love the comic.

Yeah, I read the fluff on the speeder and kinda like it now. It's boxy and ugly but so is my Volvo 240...they also both provide a cloud of darkness that obscures my travel...

The batrep video in the iPad version generally is a really cool thing imho, though I gotta say this one is definitely a "forging a narrative" propaganda piece...no points listed?!?! really guys?!?!

the Golden Demon content, and the Blanchitsu article, make it a worthwhile purchase...
