First and formost, I'm rusty on the rules so it might be an obvious answer (Probably will be)

My two questions are on how artillery interacts with the FOR.

Could I put my Big Gunz in the FOR and still draw LOS?
Assuming I can, would I therefore be allowed to use the grot crew to fire the FOR's weapons and still fire the artillery?

Thanks

I mean on the battlements.
Can they also fire their gun and the Lascannon/Krakstorm?

From what I understand, dudes inside the buildings shoot the emplaced guns like the Icarus and the krakstorm.

So you could auto-fire the guns at BS2 at the closest target, or stick minimum units in the bunkers to direct the shooting.

The battlements of each section are treated as different buildings. So grots on top could draw LOS with their guns but not shoot the guns controlled inside the bunker. The exception on shooting from within is that the middle section has 6 or 7 fire points from which you could fire 12-14 models

I'm confused
I thought people on the battlements could fire the weapons.

So therefore since I can have my big gunz on the battlements I would assume I can get the grots to fire the weapons?
Could the grots fire the weapons and the big gunz? Because there's 2 grots to one gun?

No you cannot be on the battlements and fire the FOR's weapons.

So I need some grot mobs to fire the weapons?
Another question, with the automated firing if I choose to use skyfire does that mean it's the nearest flying vehicle or the the nearest thing but counting as a snap shot?

Yes, although the Icarus Lascannon has Interceptor so you will get your full BS2.

Grots have a 3, and on the fortress, that Icarus is twin-linked.

Could someone tell me on what pages I can find the information regarding artillery units not being able to fire emplaced weapons?

As far as I can tell, the rules allow any model to fire an emplaced weapon, so (for instance) a Leman Russ Battle Tank could fire a quadgun. (I guess a crewman gets out of the tank ? :p)

Not quite. Any model can fire a Gun Emplacement (such as ths Quad-gun). To fire an Emplaced Weapon, you must be embarked in the building.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

So my artillery which can be embarked in the building can fire it?

I don't think so. Artillery are not given permission to embark in transports(which a Building is treated as)

They could be on the battlements like any other unit, just with no way of getting down besides jumping.

But being on the battlements would mean they would only be able to fire any HBs you purchased(as they can be placed anywhere)

They couldn't fire the Missile Silo or the lascannon.

Thanks for clearing that up, I dropped two kannons for a grot mob so I can fire the weapons.
I assume I'd need two grot mobs to fire each of the weapons at other targets.

Well the Grots all have to be in the same building and since the Missile Silo and Lascannon are in seperate buildings you would need 2 different Grot mobs.

The FoR is actually 4 seperate buildings. Each bunker is a seperate building, the walkway is its own building, and the tower is its own building.

A unit can be spread out along the battlements which all connect and are just like normal terrain.
