I was looking through the ig codex and was thinking with the combined squads special rule I could put down yarrick in a 50 man blob with 5 flamers and add 5 ministorum priests and 5 vanilla commisars

Just curious about opinions?

I have done this. It is hilariously fun once they get into combat, but try not to cry when they die in droves against blast/template weapons while marching across the table.

Blob lists *CAN* work if you pepper in the right supporting units (I.E. your priests and commissars).

It's honestly a joke army that only works once, since it's very easily countered (blasts, flamers, and effective CC units will chew through a blob Guard squad faster than you can say "CHARGE!").

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

The key to doing this is to add Al'Rahem.

It negates getting destroyed while slogging across the field.

Giving the sergeants PW is nice too.

A 50-man power blob (with flamers) with full commissar retinue and full eviscerator priest retinue, and a CC lord commissar costs 950 points. Add in the required PCS and it's going to be 1000.

1000 points of something that's going to do virtually nothing until it gets into close combat. If your opponent is shooting-orineted, you're not even that likely to make it into close combat.

Plus, outside of the priests, this doesn't even really give you any anti-tank, and certainly no ranged anti-tank. If your opponent manages to bring an anti-infantry vehicle, like a hellhound or punisher or helldrake or venoms or rifleman dreads or scatter laser warwalkers or any of a huge host of things, your opponent is going to just gun you down from a position of relative invincibility.

Basically too much of a one-dimensional thing to be anything all that close to effective.

Yeah, torrent templates would brutalize that setup. Too expensive, just look for other possibilities. A CCS built around Straken may be cheaper, Fearless and can take Priests and Yarrick. Not as hilarious, and probably not much more competitive, but worth giving some thought.

Is Kharn a Commissar that kills enemies or are Commissars Kharn wannabe's who don't have the balls to kill enemies?

I know a good way to use this list. When you and your opponent start building your lists, pretend that you're making a full-on 1000 point mechanized list. Make sure the person you're playing against thinks you're going to use armor.

Then laugh at them as you roll out your blob and the enemy is stuck with meltas and plasma
